Meds in Canada

I'm just looking for answers in general as I know each situation is different.
Planning ahead here.

-How long on average to book a doctor's appointment to get meds done in Canada?
-Can you go to a walkin-clinic?
-Any special doctor required?
-How much will it cost on average?

I'll answer a few of your questions from an Ontario/Toronto standpoint...

There are many walk-in clinics. Wait times (depending on the time of day and year) can be anywhere from no time at all to a couple of hours. No appointment is typically required. They take people on a first come, first serve basis. Basic cost of the clinic is free if you have an OHIP card. You will pay for extras such as prescription medication. The cost of that will depend on what you need and if you have any additional health care coverage on top of OHIP.

It's very difficult to find a family doctor. Most are no longer taking new patients.

I'm not sure I understand your "any special doctor required" question.

It seems that you have misunderstood my questions.

I will be more specific this time.
We will be sending in an appl. for spousal sponsorship/perm. residence, while my spouse is in Canada (outland application).

The "meds" I'm talking about are not just getting a prescription for an illness.
I'm talking about the full-blown medical examination that is required for a permanent residence application.

Are you saying you can go to a walk-in clinic for this?
Also, I'm sure I can't charge my OHIP card to get this examination done.

Same questions as before.

Might be best if you read your application form which will direct you to the website page where all the approved doctors are then you can pick one in your area and give them a call for this information.

The medical has to be done by a DMP, not at a walk in clinic - see the CIC Web site for details.

Where are you in Canada?

I did mine in Ottawa.

How long are the medical records valid for?
We are renewing the visa, and are to provide medical records.
We have the reciept, but the actual records were sent to Immigration.
The reciept was made a bit over a year ago.
Is it up to the Immigration Office?

For inland application, you can extend the meds to be valid for up to three years. For this you must've had them done in Canada and not leave the country since... (If I remember correctly...)

I am in Guelph.
I called a doctor's office near me and found out the info.
It's good news. Less than a week for an appointment.

I wanted to make an appointment for a routine E/N/T check up
in the summer and that took more than two months to book!
