Hey there everyone,

My husband (American) and I are in the final throws of getting the application (outland) together. We've filled out all the forms in rough, I've gathered 20ish photos and some Skype call logs and facebook status updates etc. We're waiting for FBI, Option C etc. to come in the mail.

Unfortunately it turns out it's a lot easier for him to do the medical here in Ontario. New York State has 3 panel physicians and theyre no where near him, where as one is 45mins from me and can do one anytime M-F. But because it's M-F, and my husband can only visit weekends, we're a little stuck until a months time when his work quiets down.

I know you have the option of sending the medical after, but my understanding was it isn't any benefit and it's better to just ensure the medical is sent with the rest of the application? Also, does anyone know how much the medical costs on Ontario?

In GTA, it's somewhere $ 150- $ 220 (really depends on the doctor).
It's always better to send the medical upfront rather than getting requested.

The medical is a required document and if you do not include it in your application package you risk having your application returned.

My wife dis not include it in the application and it was approved

She did it after about 6 months of submitting the application

I think this is VERY rare, but it can happen. So it's better to do it upfront and not risk any delays in terms of them having to ask for it (or it getting separated/"misplaced" from the rest of your file if you send it in later, which also can happen).

Yes, some people do not include it upfront, but it is a required document if you read the checklist. It is the same as not including one of the application forms. Doing so jeopardizes your application, so it is up to you if you want to risk it.

My Hubby is in NYS as well amd he did his on a visit. Ottawa the cost was $240 for the medical, another 35 or so for the xray and blood work. He did a medical.last year that was a total nightmare Dr in Ottawa and there was an issue he had folowed up with in the USA so we waited for 2followups on the issue before redoing the medical with a different Dr. We submitted application with everything done and paid the fees upfront to prevent any delays

Fair enough. Also, is there a wait for the form? Like we're hoping to have his done Nov 13th (appointment made in Ontario). When will we have the form?

I got mine done in Edmonton (Alberta) last year. If your doctor can submit it electronically you get the froms you need to attach to the application straight after the examination(s), and they submit the actual results to CIC electronically within 7-10 business days. My son got his done at the same place this september and they submitted it while we waited for the forms to print.

They give you a form at the exam that you include with your application
