Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any issues trying to emigrate to canada when themselves or other half has had depression?

It depends on the extent of the depression. If they are on medication and are doing well on it, it wouldn't be a problem. If they are having to be hospitalized because of it frequently, it may be a problem. Immigration calculates how much they would cost health care and if it is over a certain amount, they are considered excessive demand.

Excessive demand is however only an issue when the family is applying for immigration together. If one spouse is already a PR or Canadian and is sponsoring the other spouse and/or dependent children, excessive demand is not an issue.

Is ADHD with speech delay also considered excess demand? is it ground for denial of PR?

Just for the record if some one stumbles upon this thread, they would like to know the out come. I believe we had a possible diagnosis in further medical (we were asked for further evaluation for the child from a child specialist) of ADHD currently showing speech delay in a child aged 2.7. We got visas approved after this feedback.

Just posting for the record, if some body stumbles upon and wonders how this ended.

Thankfully we did get visas approved for the whole family, while i believe (not sure because i couldn't see the actual written evaluation) the doctor did diagnose possible ADHD with no medication or treatment needed except already on going speech therapy for my child.

So in general i should be able to say that ADHD unless in some really severe form which is not the case with me, could be approved by CIC.
