Pre-Assessed..
Dear Sir!
Hi,

I am permanent resident status and Applied for Sponsorship of my wife last year(July 7, 2009). My wife was pregnant of 5-weeks during medical.

New baby born in December, 2009 and we sent Updated Application with her Medical Exam and other documents on February 05, 2010.

Now the problem is that my Wife Medical is expiring on May 05, 2010. We are waiting for Immigration Visa. If they again require medical of my wife, it will again take more than 3-months to complete the immigration process from Pakistan.

May be they issue medical instructions after 2-3 months when they will open our file. In this way, our time will be wasted.

My Question: Can we undergo medical exam by self as did previously before Sponsorship Application to speed up the process.

Waiting for reply,

Johnson

Thanks for ur reply. I think this will be better. We should wait until they asked for medical. In this way, we will wait next 3-months Approx. for PR visa. I want to save time and speed up the process.

But in general rule, your visa expiry date is your medial expiry date. As in my case, my medial was expiring on March 25, 2007. Canadian High Commission, Islamabad issued me PR Visa on January 09, 2007 and my visa expiry date was March 25, 2007.

An immigration officer has the authority to extend the validity of a medical up to an additional 4 months.

To be proactive you can send the visa office an email to request that they advise if it will be probable that her medicals will be extended or if a new medical will be required. This could help avoid longer delays (ie. waiting for the official letter to reach you by mail)

My wife applied for her PR in December 2015 and received good news that it is almost complete (July 29, 2016) but only requires us to submit her passport. Her medical expires August 29, 2016. I don't think the passport will take more than a month to arrive at the Visa Office for the stamp but my only worry is if the passport (with it stamped) arrives a day before medical expires. Are we required to redo the medical in order to land in Canada or it will not be a problem?

The officer can extend medical exams even up to a year, I did mine on March 2015, my husband applied for sponsorship on February 2016, my medical assessment on GCMS notes say that they are valid until March 2017 and on ECAS it shows that they already received them.
Having your wife's passport requested means that her medicals will be extended a couple of days or weeks, so don't worry.

The officer can request that the medical examination validity be extended but this can be refused. It depends on a number of factors, including where the applicant has spent a significant amount of time. For example, in a location that has a high incidence of TB, an extension request may be denied.
