I currently live in Ontario, and am here on a Working Holiday Visa. I became eligible for OHIP because I work full-time. My husband is Canadian, and we hope to move to BC in a few months for his work. I am currently 4 months pregnant.
Because my OHIP coverage is conditional on my work, I do not think I will be able to get coverage in BC (as I do not intend to start working in BC...since it's not worth it so close to when the baby is due). I am therefore in the process of completing my PR paperwork, since the BC Health website informs me that if my PR paperwork is in, I can be eligible for BC Health after a 3month waiting period (which will hopefully be on time for when the baby is born).

I would like clarification on three things:
- at what point is the PR application considered 'submitted'? Do I need a confirmation that it is received or something, or is it just when I put it in the mail?
- I can't do the full medical (x-rays) because I am pregnant. Is that going to mean that my PR is not 'submitted'? Or is there some way of indicating that I will do my medical after having the baby, and that they will still be satisfied with this?
- Assuming I can get BC Health on time, how do I remain covered during the 3 month waiting period? Am I obliged to advise OHIP that I have stopped work (which I believe will cease my coverage)? Could I remain covered if I apply for maternity benefits/leave?

Any clarification/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
