I am reading conflicting information on the CIC website. The document checklist says to have the medical exam and the police certificate. However, on the CIC website it also states "Instructions on how to take the medical examination will normally be sent to you after you submit your application to the visa office." ????

The FBI clearence says it could take up to 16 to 18 weeks, I want to get this process going should I send it without the police certificate? And then when I recieve it send it to them??? Please help!

Ideally, you send medical cert and police cert all together with the whole application.
I'm not sure if it is a good idea to send it incomplete, you might be at risk of package being returned, from what I heard of.

It is advisable to send the complete package together with the applications, supporting documents,PCC ,Medical Exam etc etc.Sometimes CIC may send back the package for missing documents or they will request it at a later stage which will increase the processing time by 1-2 months....

Do you know where to find the medical exam form? and processing times say it will take 14 months for this to be complete which means I will have to do another one :(

You don't have to bring anything in to the Dr, just immigration photos, payment and identification. The designated medical practitioner (DMP) should have the documents you need. The Doctor will give you a sheet of paper that you'll need to include in your application proving you've done medicals.

Thanks for the info. But I already contacted the DMP and they don't have the form they said that I need to bring it in and when I go to the CIC website it says the form is NOT downloadable, but that the VO office handling my case will send it to me. UGH Still so confused, cause it seems like most people are sending it with the application, but I don't know how???

And has anyone sent there police certificates after the application???

There are some types of visa applications where the medical is done at a later stage of the application. For those visa types you will have a file number/document from the VO. Tell the DMP that it is an upfront medical exam for Family class immigration. (Is there another DMP close to where you are located? Sounds like the office staff at this DMP is not up to speed.) jds07 is correct, you only need to take your ID, the correct number of photos and payment.

It is strongly advised on these forums to send the police certificates with the application. If you don't, you run the risk of having your application returned to you as "incomplete". Even if they don't send it back, it is difficult to send a document later and be confident it can "catch up/match up" with the rest of your application package. Or, if you were to wait until they request it, it will certainly delay your application to some degree.

Good luck with your application.

Which visa office are you using? You need to follow VO specific instruction, which supersedes general instruction.

FBI certificate usually comes back much quicker. I received it just over a month. You might want to check the thread for FBI timeline in this forum. If FBI certificate is the only one you are waiting, I would wait to eliminate the risk of having the whole application returned because of being "incomplete".

Thank you so much, for this info. I contacted another DMP in Canada and they knew about th upfront route and said I didn't need to bring any pictures cause they would take them there and that it is all computerized now. YAY!

Thanks for the info on the Police Cert, I just didn't want to wait 4 to 5 months to send it. I will try to find an FBI timeline forum. :)

My husband requested the FBI check three times last year...yes, it kept expiring (more than 3 months old) before we could get the rest of the paperwork together. The requests were in March, June and October - the March one took 4 weeks, the June one only 3 weeks, and the October one 5 weeks to receive. The FBI website states that checks "take approximately five to six weeks depending on the volume of requests received"...so I would expect that is pretty accurate considering our experiences. (Our waiting time was from when we submitted the request - we received the results from the FBI about 1 week after our payment was processed.) Recent posts on these forums reflect very similar timeframes in the past couple of months. (One poster in particular just got theirs back last week after approx. one month.) But yes, you should just be able to do a search on this website and get some recent experiences.

Hey washingtongirl

We were waiting on my partner's Aussie police cert and didn't want to delay any longer, so we sent the app in with a letter saying that we'd applied for the cert and would send it to them as soon as it arrived. We had sponsor approval before it arrived. I sent cert to the London office where our app was being processed. I also did the same for the Option C because it hadn't arrived yet either. I've not seen an app returned for not having a police cert; they just request it from you. The big thing is just to EXPLAIN WHY IT IS NOT THERE. They actually requested a French cert from my partner as well, 6 months after we sent the app in (he had been there just under 6 months but I guess CIC couldn't really see that), which just goes to show that they aren't too fussed at the 1st stage to have that info because it pertains to the 2nd stage.

So we sent it without 2 police certs and the Option C and had no issues at all :).

Does anybody know about Passport requests?? Do they request your actual passport? or just a copy? Cause I am going to need it for travelling, not sure what to do?

Are you visa-exempt? If you are, they won't request the passport to issue you the visa.

Thank you Canuck in UK again!
