Hey everyone. Just a quick question. I have already sent the applications to be processed. I am trying to sponsor my wife from China. Based on the overall duration, we had time to do her medical exam and send it in with the applications. However, after the delays CIC have been having, it seems like it may expire before the time comes.
My question is, if that is to happen, what do I do next? Do I wait for them to contact us letting us know it has expired? Or should we just get one ahead of time? I really want to avoid the second option since it's not cheap. Also because there may be a chance it won't expire.
The other question is, if we did have to do another one, does it take long after we send it in? Does it cause a major delay? I have noticed that many countries take years and I wonder how it is done from their end and if we'd have to do it the same way. Also, will they provide us with a different address to send it to, considering our process would be almost completed?

For a second medical, you should wait until they ask you. CIC has the option of extending the medical, or only asking for another x-ray (or another test).
As for how long, that depends on the VO, the stars, and whether the officer had orange juice for breakfast, or apple juice. In short, no one knows. I saw one case where the person had been asked for a third medical, while others got theirs extended without any issues. It's CIC. Who knows?

What's your timeline details? It often seems that a queue exists in the Beijing offices with regard to the priority of processing applications being somewhat governed by the medical expiry dates - I don't think you should redo unless they go past the date, then you could either wait until they require another (which most likely would be just the x-ray) or preemptively jump ahead of their call to do so, in order to save a possible delay.
