My wife is going for her medical next week. Any idea how long it takes? She was quoted quite a long time to get it done, but perhaps they were factoring in the wait. Just curious to know other people's experiences.

Thanks!

Which country?

You have to use a physician which is listed on the CIC website. They only accept medicals from certain physicians.

The length of time may vary, but for me there were 3 stages.

1. Medical
2. X-ray
3. Blood and urine

All 3 were in different offices here in Calgary, Canada but I did them all in about 3 hours (including traveling from and to).

I had mine done in Ottawa, Ontario - All three 1. physical, 2. Xray 3. blood done in the same office. took about 45 mins.

We called the doctor's office to make an appointment and were told to bring photos, passport, and the immigration form, which I assume means the IMM 1017. But I have no idea how to get this form, and also I thought that everything was done electronically and that we wouldn't have to bring a form.

HELP??????

You just need to tell them it is an upfront medical. You will not need to give them any form. They will give you a piece of paper to include with your application, everything else is done electronically.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I will call the office to be sure, but I think the secretary just had her info slightly wrong when my wife called.

Thanks very much!

Yes you need to make sure they know it is an upfront medical for a spouse. Ottawa hospital actually told me I had to bring my "request for a medical form" and I told them I didn't have one because It was upfront. They then proceeded to telling me they couldn't do my medical unless I had that form (OK WHATEVER)! So I called the next place. I always asked

1. the price
2. Do they file electronically
3. Length of time it would take for them to submit medical to CIC

I finally found an office that was great about everything and all i had to bring was my passport. They took a digital picture with their camera and attached it to the electronic file they created for me to send to CIC. They then gave me a paper when I left the office confirming that I had my medical and all the tests they did. One week later they called me telling me that all my tests came back good and they had forwarded my results to CIC.

Hey, can someone please tell me what all is included in a re-medical examination? If the previous one was normal, do they still ask for new Xrays, blood and urine tests?
Thanks

Did your medical expire? Or Is CIC asking for more tests to be done?

If it's a re-medical due to the first once expiring (done 12 months ago), then you need to re-do the entire medical exam.

helllo...

my spouse is gonna sponsor me for pr. i had my medical exam few days ago.

however, i had TB 5 years ago and i got treatment for it. in the medical exam i told the doctor who made note of it i think.

will that create problems for my spousal PR app?

thanks for your reply..

the chest xray will confirm whether you have TB or are clear. if your xray is not clear, the doctor will contact you for follow up tests.

thank you...

My medical expired last July and I have not heard anything from them as yet.
