Hey everyone,

We're considering withdrawing our inland application and re-applying outland, so I've spent some time reading through the outland guide and I've just come across this:

''All family members of the person being sponsored, whether or accompanying or not, will have to complete a medical examination''

Seriously? ??? I have not lived with my close relatives (parents & siblings) since 1998 and have no intention of sponsoring them in the future. Do they really have to pass a medical exam?

Please advise. Thanks.

With cic when they say family members, they mean spouses and children. Parents and siblings are not included in this or the cic application unless it is stated as sibling for the Additional Family Information form.

Your parents and siblings don't need a medical exam. Only your spouse (being sponsored) and any children who aren't already Canadian citizens or Canadian PRs.

They mean any family members included in the app or that you intend to sponsor in the future.

Thanks Tink23 and Unhappy. So as long as they're not my dependants (I'm the applicant) they won't have to undergo the medical, is that right? That makes a lot more sense.

Yep. Correct.if you don't have children that also need to be sponsored, then no additional medical exam needed.
