My child was born in Canada and thus she is Canadian citizen. Will she need to take the medical when we have to?

:) True, any child born here doesn't need to take a medical test but I do recommend that you do have the child medically followed and have the shots needed to protect them from diseases such as polio, measels, flu etc.

:) While a medical is not needed as your child was born here, but as I said, be sure that the child does get medical attention as a prevention and also yourself. Because many think becaus they feel fine that they don't need one, isn't true. As a woman it is important to have a mammogram and participate in the gouvernement program which they will advise you when you should return. also a complete blood work and check-up once a year. Husband also, to have a general check-up and prostrate check to make sure it is healthy.

:) Since many immigrants come to Canada and don't know about the health system and how it works, you should go to the CLSC or any medical clinic that will give you the counselling and advice on the check-up and vaccinations needed. We have one of the best health systems in the world, if one knows what one can have, it can save your life and that of your family.

I think you missunderstood me. We used to live in Canada and during our grad studies our child was born. We left Canada when she was 2 months old and have just applied for PR. I was curious if she would have to have a medical exam when we do or not. Of course we take the best care of her and ourselves...

:) Since the laws change all the time, when you apply you will receive a notice for your medical and it will mention if your child needs a medical. I would not worry about that needlessly but if you have been seeing a doctor, why not include a medical report from this doctor in your application. I never hesitate to put more than they ask.

No, as she's already a citizen!
