Hello folks,

So here is the situation: My wife is a medical doctor (holding an MD) and also holds a Masters in Public Health. Since both degrees have the same CRS points, and getting an ECA for her medical degree is quite a complicated and long process, would she be able to only use the ECA she got for her masters degree from WES to claim points? Would it create us any problem at a later stage? PS: She is not applying under a medical doctor NOC - she is applying under a health care consultant NOC.

Thank you!

Hello, I have a medical degree and a Master's in bioengineering. It took MCC about 4 months to approve my paperwork (in 2011). I have taken two of the qualifying exams since then. I got my ECA from MCC in 2013 when I began applying for my PR.

I do not have an ECA for my Master's. If your wife is not trying to get certified in Canada as a physician, she could get the ECA for her MPH. As you mentioned, both give her the same points.

Hi DrAjay,

Thank you for your answer. The trouble with MCC is getting the process started (they need an English-stamped identification confirmation document.) If she managed to get an ECA for her degree, she most definitely won't be pursuing further paperwork and authorization to practice medicine in Canada, as it is no longer her profession :)

Thanks again!
