Hi,

Are medicals really this expensive?

My got an email from the physician in Stockholms secretary and it's like $750 CDN.

WOW! That's pricey!

I had my wifes done at the Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead (outside London) and IIRC it cost a total of £GBP350 (say $CAD580). Might be a case of 'supply and demand' - can't be many choices of Canadian registered choices in Sweden??

Ya there only 1 Physician in Stockholm. Wife will look into Copenhagen tomorrow. Maybe it's cheaper, but if not at least it's a lot closer to us as we live only 1 1/2 hours from there and like 7 hours from Stockholm

Sounds like you are near the bridge then - Malmo? I spent a couple of night a few years ago in Hoganas, north of Helsingborg. Lovely little airfield!

I just did my medical in Stockholm and yes, had to pay 4700 SEK for the visit + 536 SEK for a chest x-ray, so total about $750-800 Canadian.
That with a day off work and travel to the clinic and back and it ended up being a pretty pricey day...

Insane. I had mine done in Canada near London, ON and they were approximately $160 for me, $35 for the X-ray, and then $130 for my daughter.

Look into taking a couple of days Canada - for free. I saw flights Toronto - Stockholm - Toronto on Wow air for under $400 CAD without luggage.
A medical in Ontario is around $200.
= Free holiday in Canada.

Yeah, I've been to Canada probably 20 times during the last 15 years. Never had any issues

I'm surprised by the price variation for the medicals, even within Canada. For my wife, we had to pay 380$ in Quebec city.

It is that expensive...and sometimes u have to fly or travel long distances. Or if the medical expires after 1 year do it again >.< We flew 400km (over water) to get to ours and it also expired 1 year later heh.

Hi, we are allowed in Canada and have a flight booked for our family on April 3. Will land under dual intent.

We are looking into Copenhagen tomorrow to see if there is much of a price difference. Another option could be to do it in Canada as we arrive April 3 and Medical request was sent March 6. We need to provide Medical within 30 days of March 6 so it could be tight to do that option.

Will see what Copenhagen Physician office says tomorrow. In the meantime my wife booked an appointment in Stockholm for March 23, but will cancel if it makes a lot more sense to do it in Copenhagen instead. My guess is we do it in Copenhagen since we live 1 1/2 hours for there and 7 hours from Stockholm.

Update:

Called Physician in DK and total the cost will be 3000dk. Fair amount cheaper then in Stockholm so will go ahead with appointment there on the 20th.
