Hello All,

I'm applying for Citizenship and I need to provide proof of language proficiency in English or French. I'm from the US and studied at McGill University. However, I realized that my Diploma is written in Latin (only my name is in English). Do you think this will be an issue if I submit it without an official translation into English?

According to IRCC, my proof is English proficiency could be:
"1. A degree, diploma, certificate or official transcripts from a secondary or post-secondary education program showing you studied in English or French, in Canada or abroad.
2. If the original document is in a different language, include:
  • a letter from the school showing that the language of instruction was in English or French along with (including an official translation of the original document, if needed)
  • the address and contact information (phone number) of the education institution"
Do you think this will be an issue? Thanks!

Hi, I'm in the same boat. Could you let me know what you did in the end?
Took me 5 minutes to google. McGill provides you with certified translation via PDF. Scan your original diploma, attach a certified translation.
