Hello! I got great news on Friday, Oct 10th. I got my CoPR!

I am getting mentally (and physically) ready for the landing.

Any tips on how to make sure it's a smooth landing? I have a hard time with figuring out what to put on the forms for "items I brought in" considering I had 2 suitcases and it was mostly clothes or gifts from people. I'm not bringing in a car or any other expensive items.

Thank you,

Kasia

congrats! don't worry about items that are already in canada. it's not necessary to declare them since they are already in canada. I doubt CBSA is going to ask you about it. All you need to list on the B4 forms is what you are bringing in with you (and it can be in general terms, ie: 1 box of books) and/or what you plan to bring at later dates as well as estimated values. You need to have 2 sets of the b4 forms if you do intend to have "goods to follow" - 1 for the stuff coming in with you and 1 for "goods to follow". FYI: make sure to total up the values ahead of time. I read they do it for you, but that was not the case when i landed. Also, you do not need to declare clothing or jewlery you are wearing (ie: engagment/wedding rings). The landing is easy, they ask you questions, they sign, you sign, and you are on your way. your wait will depend on how busy they are that day. the landing itself is about 15 min.

In that case, I don`t really have much to put on that form. I have NOTHING to put on a form to follow as everything is here already. I just worried that if I don`t put ANYTHING on the forms, it will look suspicious. If I put down clothes and jewelry and estimate the value of both, is that going to be enough? Do I need pictures?

if that is all you have to declare, then yes, that will be enough. it's not going to seem suspcious. there are plenty of people who land with just a few suitcases of clothes and jewlery. even with a little amount to declare, i would recommend filling out a form in case they require you to claim it. My guess, if the value is under a certain amount, they aren't going to care about worn clothes and jewelry.

Congrats! So happy for you!

I have a question.. Does the applicant ONLY receive the copr in the mail, or does the sponsor AND the applicant both receive something in the mail?

the COPR is mailed directly to the APPLICANT. The sponsor generally does not receive any communication from CIC after they have been found eligible.

The CoPR is for the sponsored.. CoPR basically means "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" which is what the sponsored is trying to get.

The sponsor should (we did) get a note from the government first when they get approved as a sponsor... but the CoPR is for sponsored. It confirms that you are indeed going to get a PR. :)

Does that make sense?

Congratulations to all who have received PPR and COPR these past few days!

About a month and a half ago I received a request for documents along with AOR2 from the Mexico City VO. They asked me to submit my Mexican police certificate (for those not in the know, Mexicans cannot send the Mexican police certificate upfront) and an RCMP fingerprint based police certificate, and gave me 120 days. Since I am outside Mexico I cannot get the Mexican police certificate; I have to send them my fingerprints and a set of photos and the VO uses those to get my Mexican police certificate on my behalf. My lawyer sent my RCMP police certificate along with my fingerprints and photos by courier sometime in mid September.

Today I received an e-mail (with no attachments) from the Mexico City VO stating that they received my RCMP police certificate and my fingerprints and photos that they need to get my Mexican police certificate. They also asked me to send them a copy of the AWB with which these documents were sent, but gave me no time limit.

I'm a little bit confused. I am assuming they mean the air waybill? I checked with my lawyer and she said she checked the tracking number and it looks as though those documents were never delivered. She will send them the air waybill regardless but I am confused as to why they would need that (maybe to confirm the date it was sent?)

We also just received the request for passport (no reason) but assume it is a done deal. Particulars as follows:

Beijing office

App rec'd - May 28
AOR - Aug 11
Sponsor DM - Aug 11
AOR2 - Sep 26
Applicant In Process - Sep 29
Request Passport - Oct 14

As a reminder, I, the sponsor, have been married and living with my wife in China for almost 7 years
what proofs of return did you submit to CIC? seems like they didn't give you a hard time at all for it (good thing, some have problems with that aspect of the app)

Yes I was worried about that as well especially with no work/education/residence link. Fortunately a google search led me to a post somewhere on this Immigration Forum that recommended, amongst other things, having a letter from a family member that you will be living with them. So I had my son send me an email that we would be living at his place until we found a place of our own (all true). I just included a copy of the email. Of course there is also the fact that I was born in Canada and as well my income is sourced there and I have bank accounts, lines-of-credit, stocks, driver's license etc etc Canada-based. I sent proof for most of these items. I also included comments in my covering letter to strengthen the case such as it taking up to 6 months to receive mail here for Canadian/tax related items (which is intolerable) and other little bits.

However as I said I had some concerns on this issue, especially when my Sponsorship approval started to drag, but in the end no problem! If you would like any further details let me know.

interesting, good to know. my husband is Canadian-born as well but there's a possibility that he'll stay in Romania with me (thank God, i absolutely hate the distance and months apart) until i get the visa, so that'll be next summer probably ::) we'll submit a letter from his parents too, but other than that i have no idea what to send. maybe an advantage is that he's here since august and he'll probably stay for like a year, it's not so much time spent abroad (compared to other cases).

thanks for the info and congrats on your app progress ;) you'll be done soon
