giving CIC a call really can't hurt. we were at 60 days when my husband called. they gave him an UCI and next day we received SA ..

Hi all!

Okay, I'm beginning to have a bit of a panic and I could use some advice:

We applied outland and, as mentioned, we're at the 54 day mark waiting for our AOR. My common-law spouse has been in Canada since March of 2012 under a NAFTA work permit (he is an American graphic designer). His permit is set to expire in March of 2015 and we will renew if the timeline of his PR application doesn't look like it will go through before then.

Another user mentioned that if you are American and applying outland, you can't work in Canada. Is this true? I seem to remember asking this ages ago before we applied, but now I'm beginning to panic that it might not be the case and our application will be rejected on those grounds.

Could anyone provide any insight?

Thank you!

Derp! I jumped the gun. RCohen saved me on the other thread. Please ignore the above post! Thank you and apologies!

just to be completely clear here... VISITORS can not work legally in canada. It has nothing to do with applying outland or inland. A person needs to have proper authorization from immigration to work in canada, regardless if there is a PR Application in process or not. This includes a work permit OR PR status. Since your spouse has a legal work permit, HE is not a visitor, he is a legal worker!

my husband sent the Quebec forms today! ;D now the waiting begins again ::) i hope MICC won't take too much.

May applicants!! no one has any news? :( CIC didn't even update the site (last update 2 july) ...

Perfect CutiePie!

MICC is fast so I think the important thing is to send the documents as soon as possible as you did. Thanks again for a previous comment of you regarding to the required documents, I didn't know we have print 2 copies of the engagement or undertaking form. I just did, and I'm prepared for my AOR to arrive and attach the SA letter.

looking forward to your CSQ arrival date!

Haven't heard anything yet - our application was received on May 14th according to Fedex tracking. They haven't changed their processing time (still 55 days) even though they are getting delayed. *sigh*

My spouse called today and he was told they are still waiting on the missing documents which I sent start of the month. They told him to call back next week. I think they won't work on my application sigh. On a bright note he was given a uci so I can keep track of the application.

Our application was also received May14. By the end of May I realized I submitted incorrectly under Conjugal instead of Common Law (I know! stupid! I'm still drowning my sorrows over that one!). On June 12 CIC had received the amended forms as Additional Documents. My biggest fear was that the original application would be refused before they had the chance to add the new forms to complete the package properly. I call on Friday and the good news was they have indeed amalgamated the application and I also have UIC to check online. Still waiting on AOR and SA though :(

That is awesome! I was under the impression that sending more documents before getting AOR and a file number made it very hard for Mississauga to link those documents to a specific application, so this is nice!

I also had the same impression as jack. I wanted to send some corrections to my file. So I thought that I should wait until I get the AOR.

Since I am very near to finish line of the stage 1, Not sure if sending in those corrections at this time will delay my application further. any suggestions?

I sent the forms immediatly because I had nothing to lose. The application under conjugal without a doubt would have been refused. Sending the additional documents was a last ditch attempt at not having to repapply from stratch. I had to include a cover letter explaining my error and include any possible information they would require to try and link the files... Our names, DOB, receipt #, and canada post tracking. Bare in mind that I was only verbally told they have the two files together. I don't have AOR or SA, so I am still holding my breath praying everything will be ok.

Thanks katathafx for the info. I dont have to change my application category, I just want to send in some corrections for 2 questions. I guess I will wait and then send in the corrections once the file is transferred from CPC-M to the London visa office

AOR is just a message letting you know that they have received your application. SA usually follows close behind, and some people get both on the same day. Already there is a May applicant who got SA without getting AOR, so getting SA makes getting AOR a moot point since you are already approved as a sponsor there is no need to inform you that they received your application.

By the way, congratulations!!!
