Soo .. i searched if there is a thread for may 2014 already and i didn't find anything ...

I thought i should start one ;D we're applying through Bucharest VO. my husband just came back from UPS, we finally sent it! 8) after so much work!

are there others that did the same or are ready to send it this month? :) please share your story!

My wife sent ours this morning. We're applying through Manilla since we live in Korea. I can't believe how long the process of getting it all together took. When we looked at it all last night, it didn't seem like it was that hard in the end. :P

Still, I have a terrible feeling in my stomach that we forgot something. :( I hope that goes away soon!

By the way, how do I edit those stats on the left under people's profiles?

Congrats on sending your application in :) You can edit your profile once you have 10 posts!

Best of luck to all May applicants! You have submitted your application after days/months of hard work and lots of stress, so now you deserve a rest and don't think about it too much :)

it was definitely a lot to compile! we kinda went overboard with the proof of our relationship :P

this is our application ! the yellow envelopes are all forms and docs, but the rest are just proof ... :-[

not sure i understand your question?

i noticed the processing times for stage 1 approval went up - 40 days :(.. wonder if it has something to do with the fact that they now process inland sponsorships in Mississauga as well ...

Am i checking status right?/Re: MAY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants

Yes! I'd like to join :)

... I actually imagined being able to join "my" application thread when I was finally done! First I envisioned it would be the January 2014 thread... then Feb, then March... you get the picture. Like most of us I had NO idea it would be such a BEAR of a process :o (I wanted to use a different "b" word but since I'm just introducing myself I'll keep it clean lol )

So: I am a US outland applicant from California, my husband of 6 years is a Canadian citizen, no children (yet :-) , so a pretty simple application (you'd think! but still was 3 inches thick package!). We sent our application from California, where we were travelling when the thing was finally done (although I pretty much reside here (Toronto) with him, we go back and forth a LOT for his work and my family stuff). My postal tracking # says the package was delivered a few days ago (May 9) so of COURSE I had to run and check today (I held off for 4 days!) on the CAS (sp?) site - and of COURSE no luck... nothing on the system

Quick question - am I entering the right info? I selected TYPE OF APPLICATION: "sponsorship" -> Sponsoring spouse outside canada -> then I entered my receipt # (including the leading letter) and SPONSOR's info (surname, date and place of birth)

Is this correct way to search? (I also tried MY info, still no dice)
I know it's probably just too early, but wanted to be sure I am doing it correctly for future attempts

Thanks and good luck to all!

ECAS wont work with a receipt number even though the system suggests otherwise. You will not see anything in ecas until after you receive sponsorship approval, which will have the sponsor's UCI (unique client identifier) and file #. You will need to use the sponsor's informaiton in order to access ecas with this number. My ECAS did not start working until 2-3 days after receiving SA, even though we had our file number already because of a request for a missing document. There really isn't much information provided on ECAS. The only update that's there for me is that my medical was received. Apparently it's going to be months and months until anything further happens.

wow ok thanks for the super quick and helpful reply - understand your hero member moniker now lol
funny they specifically tell you a receipt number will work!
so i'll wait for SA before trying eCAS again... does the SA (or the AOR, for that matter) come via email or snail mail (or both)? I'm asking bc we're planning another trip to california soon and need to know whether a friend should be given a mail key to check on it or not.
thanks!

haha thanks! mine came by email. there's really no knowing for sure what will happen... some people get email and some get regular mail. CIC certainly likes to keep us on our toes. :)

no kidding! ::) I'll hope for email, unless...
hmmm: is the AOR also your proof of eligibility? Asking bc that's listed as OHIP (ontario health coverage) document requirement: "official letter from CIC stating that you are eligible to apply for permanent residence"
... in whcih case i might want a snail mail ("official") letter.

no, i don't believe so. it is cic acknowledging they received the sponsor's application to sponsor the applicant on a specific date. i don't even think sponsorship approval counts for OHIP eligibility, though i can be wrong. there are threads about that on here, and i'm sure a more senior member can tell you for sure how to try to get coverage. from what i've read it's difficult to get, and requires significant fight. I personally have no idea how to even begin with that.
