Hooray! My ECAS status changed from "Application Received" to "In Process"!

The details state they started processing it on December 6th. Not sure what this means in terms of waiting time from here on in, but I'm THRILLED to see some movement!

I'm outland--don't worry, I made sure I was posting in the right forum thread.

As for detail, there's not much more to tell beyond the timeline under my avatar (which I did just update a bit). My husband is sponsoring me. We applied in May. He was approved as a sponsor May 24th. They requested my passport October 17th. My ECAS status changed either Friday (I didn't check on Friday) or this morning.

Yes. From what I understand, for the purposes of US applicants, CPP-O is considered "outland" even though it technically resides in Canada. They've closed most of the Canadian visa offices in the US, and now all spousal sponsorship applications (and possibly other family-class applications too) go through CPP-O.

I have been bouncing around this site topic trying to get information. Help me please if you can. We received an email response some time ago that our application was received May 30 2013. Also, "Medical results have been received" I also received an email July 4 2013 stating my sponsorship was approved. Now I see that so many others from this time frame have received passport requests, or responses that their file has moved from "Received" to "Processing". Should we be concerned not seeing any movement? Also on the side bar of this site the status information people share, what does "AOR" mean? When I filled out the side bar I guessed that was referring to time of email response from CIC regarding sponsorship approval. Thanks.

Dear Eemsley, I do not think you need worry. Different Visa Offices have different procedures. New Delhi for example requests passports at an early stage. London does not usually ask for them at all. I am not sure what Manila does but there is a Manila thread which you could read through to check. Also Ecas is somewhat unpredictable. If yours says that medical results have been received it is likely that they have started processing but have not expressly said so on Ecas. Mine said processing started in August but the medical results entry was not added until 2 months later, and for the time being Ecas is stuck at that point. Have patience and if you dont have sufficient of it, try getting the VO's notes. It is now possible to apply for those by email at a cost of only C$5. AOR simply means either advice of receipt or acknowledgement of receipt and so represents an earlier stage than sponsorship approval. Mine however came in the same letter as the notification of approval; so there again the procedure varies.

The on line service for CIC replied regarding my spouse's PR application and my application to sponsor her. I am Canadian and she is Fiipina living in the Philipines. The online PR information says "We received your application to sponsor ........ on May 30th. 2013." and "Medical results have been received." "We sent you a letter July 4th about decision." I received the email letter dated July 4th saying I was approved as sponsor. The letter also stated that "file forwarded to visa office abroad". Now that was more than seven month ago. Nothing else has happened. The online application process information still says, under my spouse's PR Application section "1 Application Received" and "2 Med Received". I am assuming from this information that my spouse's PR application is sitting on a lonely pile somewhere waiting to be discovered. My spouse is now in the process of changing her passport status to include her married name as we were married in the Philipines in March 2013. My question is: Will this cause any problems with CIC? Of course, they have a photo copy of her existing passport on file made out in her maiden name. Any response will be appreciated. This is such a lonely process.
