Hi guys,

I would like to share with the ones of you who have already landed this issue...

Have you guys had any problem to get the new SIN number at Service Canada right after landing?

Apparently from the their website, who applied within Canada, like us in this thred, can get the new SIN only AFTER recieving the PR card. Is that true?

Thanks if you can answer...

heres the link .... www servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/proof.shtml

and the statement....

Permanent residents

You must provide one of the following primary documents:

Permanent Resident Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. This is the only acceptable document if your claim was processed in Canada.

Only your CoPR and passport is required to get the new SIN number. I got my SIN number yesterday without any hassle

Folks who completed visa stamping and landing, can you please advice if you sent 2 photos along with the passport when you got the PPR request. I didnt see any mention about photos in the PPR request however few of my friends told me that the photos need to be sent along with passport as ultimately these photos will be used in COPR and PR card (which eventually comes after 3 months). Can someone please advise.
If you are in North America, then you are not required to send any photo. I am not sure about others. I will advise to follow the PPR request mail. If nothing is written about photo, then no need to send the same.

Thanks for the information. I am residing in Canada and the the mail from CPC, there is no reference to photos. So I presume they just need the passports. However still curious to know, if COPR and PR card requires photos. For those who got their COPR, was it without any photo?

Just got some info.Security clearance which is done by a third party is what is taking so long. It is not PCC.That PCC is just for formality sake. You know these CIC guys are trying to spend as little money as possible after snatching your $550.I'll tell you how
They will refuse your application as soon as they see a flaw in NOC code or work hours or no reference letter. This is because then they don't have to pay for the security clearance that verifies that stuff.Security clearance verifies education , work and international crimes that may have been committed. They would look at you nationality and profile you first before knowing what amount of stuff to check, do you think they'll even look at the police clearance you handed in by mail. They are going to run an international background check on us and you know some of us just seem suspicious.
