hey all i am new to this forum and i have a question when u are doing ur application inland do u get a police record from within canada or from ur home country and if its from ur home country how would u go about doing it if u cant leave canada .thanx for any advice

It depends on the country...I live in US but needed criminal record clearance from UK and Switzerland because I have lived there for more than 6 months since the age of 18. I was able to order this for the US, did not have to go to the country. I am assuming you can do the same from Canada

That is correct. You are required to provide police certificate, clearance or record of no information from the authorities for each country you lived for more than six months since you were 18 years old.

See the guide entitled "Spouse or Common-Law Partner In Canada Class" for more information.

From the guide (IMM 5289E): "If you or your family members were under 18 years of age when you lived there, you do not need to provide a police certificate. It is your responsibility to contact the police or relevant authorities."

Yeah, I asked you that before re: you writing Mississauga for VO on the timeline :)

So I realised that Visa Office meant where the PR app will be processed NOT where sponsorship is approved...LOL :P

So I have changed it to Rabat as my husband is in Morocco.

15 days and counting at Mississauga :D

Congrats!

Oh I totally believe you did....I probably either missed it or had no clue what you were talking about ...LOL ::)

Anyway, 18 days and counting... ;D

Just curious if anyone else had their sponsorship approved...It has been exactly one month for my application and hoping to get the sponsorship approved early this week.

right now, the waiting period for 1st stage approval is 41 days. You might wanna give it another week or so for the first approval.

@blestcheche

our papers were received at the same date , so the real waiting has begun for both of us ..... we have the same visa office too :)

thanx much for the advice....another question i have is this...if u are planning on doing your application inland can u app;y to extend your stay before u send in your application for sponsordhip?

you can always apply to extend your stay but there is no guarantee that you will be granted an extension. since you are applying inland, why not try to send it 30 days before the expiration of your visa? once you apply inland you will automatically get an implied status.

@ Marlica:

Thanks for adding me to the may spreadsheet and inviting me to the may thread as well.
Hopefully, our experiences with this process will be favourable and trouble-free! ;D

Here is the link to the spreadsheet again, for those who dont want to look through old posts.

Also if you look at my profile, I have it listed as a website, for future references.

Sponsorship got approved today and file is being transferred to Buffalo...the first step is done and now the long wait starts. I hope Buffalo starts clearing the back log ASAP.

congrats pdb1! I'm glad to see that the list is moving along again. =) Hope everyone gets approved ASAP! :D
