Don't stress yourself too much. I have read so many cases here in this forum that they cannot access their ECAS with their new file number (2nd AOR). I, for one, have the same issue. Maybe after a year will be able to see our status :p ;D

I think they will increase immigration levels in 2012. this is based upon: 1- They cant possible decrease the monsterous backlog created and will keep on building again if they dont increase levels. 2- they have a population ageing problem which cant be be overcome with a decreased levl in skilled category. 3- they have taken steps to reduce the application intake to work on backlog cases on prallel basis. 4- but for this to be succesful they have to increase immigration quota for 2012 to process more backlog files. 5- they have started consultations and bits and pieces/hints are all over their bacgrounder that they really want to sacrifice some quotas for increase in other programs i.e. PNP and FSW-1...

extract from the same article..
According to the government’s consultation backgrounder, Canada would have to increase immigration to nearly 4 per cent of the population to stabilize its “old-age dependency ratio.”

TODAY I GOT REPLY FROM MINISTER OFFICE:Dear :

This is in reply to your correspondence dated June 2, 2011, addressed to the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, concerning the status of your application for permanent residence (APR) under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program.

We appreciate your wish to become a permanent resident of Canada as soon as possible. Unfortunately, because of the lack of specific information contained in your correspondence (full name with correct spelling, date of birth, county of birth, applicable file number(s), office of application, etc; I am unable to obtain any details on your specific case.

What I can say is that, updated information on processing times can be found at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-ec.asp.

I would also like to explain that changes to immigration law in 2008 allow Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to set, through Ministerial Instructions (MI), the number and type of applications considered for processing each year, and the order in which these applications will be processed.

Under the first set of instructions (MI-1) CIC used this new authority under immigration law to control the type of applications received, but not the number. The number of applications received exceed the ability to process them in a timely way. CIC introduced caps on June 26, 2010 on the FSW program as part of the second MI. CIC has limited the intake of new FSW applications to better match the number CIC can actually process within the annual levels plan tabled in Parliament. The third set of MI, introduced in June 2011, further adjusted the intake of economic class APRs. FSW applications under the third MI are processed on a priority basis.

Further information can be found at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2011/2011-06-24a.asp.

CIC has received enough FSW applications since February 27, 2008 to reach immigration levels for the next two years. Unfortunately, it will take longer to process those submitted under the first set of instructions (between February 27, 2008 and June 25, 2010) than originally projected. This number represents more than twice the number of projected admissions under the program in 2011.

CIC's goal is to make the immigration system more responsive to labour market needs. By giving priority to FSW applications received on or after July 1, 2011, CIC is responding to the most urgent labour market needs first. The length of time it takes to finalize an application under this program varies from one visa office to another since visa offices face different challenges. CIC continues to work towards global service standards and the use of departmental standard forms to minimize such regional variations as much as possible.

I hope that this information is of assistance.

Hi Sadika,

I got the same reply with Canadian Embassy Manila last week when we did a follow up regarding our PR application. I hope if we don't receive any MR this year, i hope it will be in 2012... :(

Vincelynn!!!! Hello!

After 5 months, I finally received a second letter from London. They gave me a new file number. Per the letter, they need to futher determine my eligibility before my application can be placed in process. Hay nku! Even so...i'm still happy!

By the way, when I received the letter, my address in ECAS has been missing for 2 weeks or so. I guess, for SOME, missing address can mean good news.

I hope you receive your MR soon! :)

Waiting..
Hi, I am June 2010 applicant. Sent full docs to VO London on Jan 31, 2011 and now after waiting for almost 4.5 months, this is the reply that I have received in response to my enquiry:

Quote:
Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your enquiry.

Documents on file.

Unfortunately, it will take longer to process Federal Skilled Worker applications submitted under the first set of instructions (between February 27, 2008 and June 25, 2010) than originally projected.

During this time, the department received applications for more than 425,000 people, and 144,000 of these have not yet received a decision.

This number represents more than twice the number of projected admissions under the Federal Skilled Worker program in 2011, so many of these applicants will have to wait two years or more to be processed. Because they reflect Canada's current labour market needs, applications under the most recent set of ministerial instructions are processed on a priority basis.
Our office sends immigration decisions and information requests by post or by email to the mailing and email addresses provided in the application. Therefore, it is important that our office be notified immediately of any change of address and contact details.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
Yours sincerely,
