Guys, Can anyone let us know that after the new rule implemented for FSW (Feb 2008) is there any maximum duration for file processing until visa is issued?

As per my research the fastest file processing was in four months and the longest is one still ongoing for someone who applied in March 2008 (22 months).

Will there be any limit for decision or it will be indefinite like the old rule was for processing of application?

Anyone with a slightest clue to this most popular question?

"How long is a piece of string?"

It can be almost indefinite, depending on may factors, especially background security checks.

PMM

Thanks PMM, but do you mean to say that there is no difference between the Fast Track and the previous system?

If its taking as long as more than 3 years (38 months) then what was the point of introducing such system except shrinking the NOC list.

By the way PMM as per your experience do you know who made the world record by being into the longest time for processing his/her file for Canada immigration. Lest i would like to personally congratulate such person for his/her efforts and patience.

I personally know one who completed 6 years (72 months) and is still waiting.

Biblo,

PMM is bang right. There just can not be a limit set for the total process. After all going smooth, the catch is at being SDEC, SECCRIM & CDEC cleared. Those can hold one back [technically] indefinitely.

However, with the 2010 plan and post C-50 Bill [now law], CIC is trying to shorten the gap as much as possible. This is what Immigration Minister -Jason Kenney said, while submitting the ministry's 2009 yearly report to Parliament alongwith the 2010 plan.

"The focus of the 2010 plan is on economic immigration to support Canada's economy during and beyond the current economic recovery... The 2010 plan will result in higher admission rates for immigrants nominated by provinces & territories and applicants under the federal skilled worker program, who could expect to receive a decision within six to 12 months under the new Action Plan for Faster Immigration.... As a result, the backlog of FSW applicants would go down or a cut by more than 30 percent."

Your observation of a 6yrs+ case is also ditto with mine. I am not aware of any 2002 case yet pending [there may be, but I've not heard]. However, though only a hearsay, it is expected that hereon [2010+], CIC would try & ensure that a case gets 'conclusivly closed' by around 5yrs. [note again, it's just a hearsay]

Qorax.

Thanks Quorax for a comprehensive response. I think the guys on the forum will benefit from your views and will plan accordingly.

awesome quorax !!!!
very nicely put. u have touched the right spot on many of applicant's mind. as usual, your posts r objective & self-explanatory. thank u man.

*I have also heard here that CIC plans to completely close-in all the pending (backlog, pre Feb-2008) cases by 2012.
