hello friends
i am a mature student applying for a course at Humber. I have couple of questions.
1. How do visa authorities treat mature student cases ? i am 45 years old and working in an well established company
2. just last month i had applied for a 10 year visa which i received. I will be applying for my student visa within 45 days of receiving my 10 year visa. will it make a difference to the visa officer ?
thanks

ofcourse it will affect your visa...

u can put a genuine case of how that course will help you at this stage of career..along with good amount of funds, that can prove your interest is only in learning not earning money in Canada

u should explain why u chose the 10 yr visa 1st instead of directly applying for student visa, if studying is ur primary interest...

u never know, since ur visa is already approved once, u might stand a good chance while applying for student visa too..

thanks winsor
well, i had planned to go to canada to meet friends and family, so i applied for trv. one week later i met some representatives of humber who were on a education fair. had a discussion with them and discussed with my office too. they were ready to release me for 8 months and agreed to pay my fees too as i have been with the company for more than 15 years. i had planned to go for masters but the company was not ready to release me for 2 years. so had to settle for graduate certificate at humber. yes, it will help me with my career as i take more responsibilities in the company. i am well settled in my job and doing well. keeping my fingers crossed.
thanks again

yeah..that should be fine..

since you are going on release, it shows more assurity of your coming back after the study..and explain the same abot ur TRV too, that it was for visit purposes..

many thanks again winsor
just one more question
should i write to the high commission stating the facts and ask them about my case ? whether it should be ok to apply. though i am not sure whether they reply to individual cases. i just want to be honest with facts. i have never ever been denied a visa and currently hold a 10 year visa for US too. the rejection might come as a shock :)

without the proper supporting documents, they cant guide u..n why wud they want to evaluate everything for u for free of cost(without a visa fee) ?

u can write to CHC only for queries..nt to ask them ur chances of getting the visa

even for a query of passport being stuck at their office for months, expect no reply...also queries are handles by call centers not Visa officers

true
thanks winsor

I'm older than you and have just finished my first out of 6 semesters at Humber.

nice to hear that itstime...all the best for remaining 5

They don't offer advice and won't respond to this type of email.

thanks scylla

hello all
one more query
my college has waived off IELTS requirement. will it make a difference to the visa officer ?
thanks

why to take a risk..u can give the exam..

in the visa checklist IELTS says preferable ..if u dont want to give, may be u can mention abot the waive off in the SOP

thanks winsor
though i am willing the only issue is that i would be travelling on office work extensively for the next few weeks. so i am not sure whether i would be able to sit for the exam. many thanks for your advise. really grateful. best regards

getting IELTS dates in India is not easy..if u book now, the next available date will be atleast after a month..
