Master of Science from canada

Hi all;

I have been a full time student in Canada for years, dutring which I took 5 courses (15 credit hours)-- which is the requirement for Master degree -- Will I get the 5 points for adaptability?

Its indicated in the manual for skilled workers (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op06e.pdf)
page 9 section 6.4 Education, that a full time is defiend as requiring at least 15 hr of instruction per week during the academic year.
My question is...I only had 15 credit hours but stayed as a full time student for two years working on my research,, will i get the 5 point for adaptability??????????

I don't think so.

Were you attending those 5 courses every week for 2 years? Or did each one last just a semester?

You should really contact the school. They will tell you whether your classes comprised 15 hrs/week for the entire 2 years.

A master’sdegree or PhD and at least 17 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies: 5 points"

DEGREE! When you get your Master degree then you will get 5 points. It does not matter how long time it takes to get a degree , what matters in this case - a Master DEGREE.

Read the guidelines for adaptability - under the section for previous study in Canada.

Previous study in Canada
You, or your accompanying spouse or common-law partner, have completed a program of full-time study of at least two years' duration at a post-secondary institution in Canada. You must have done this after you were 17 years old and with a valid study permit.

There is no need to have obtained a degree or diploma for these two years of study to earn these points.

Not right. The key is the little word: A master's degree or PhD and at least 17 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies
If you completed a PhD after only 16 years of full-time study, you get only 20 points, not 25.

I am in the same boat as the original poster. I too took a "full-time" master's degree in Canada (18 credit hours), and am not sure how to proceed.

I am wondering if my hours as Graduate Research Assistant count as education time. That could give me a small boost.

I agree with you 100% its another thing if the rules said "or"; it says "and" i think that is clear enough

You will definetly get the points for adaptability . Canadian govt prefers to retain foreign graduates.
