I'm in the CEC pool and hoping to be drawn once they restart in July. My common-law partner is a Canadian citizen, and therefore mostly irrelevant to my application (since he's obviously not moving with me). We've been engaged for a while and had to put off the wedding due to Covid, but my family will be in Canada later in the year, so we'd really like to get married then, rather than making anyone travel again. I know it doesn't make any difference whether we're common-law or married for this kind of application, but can it cause any problems if we get married soon after I apply? We'd update them on that once we had a marriage certificate of course, but that can take a while.
Does anyone have any experience with this? We don't really want to delay the wedding further, but also don't want to make the application complicated. Thanks in advance!
