Hi,

I apologise in advance if I posted this in the wrong forum.

My scenario is as follows. Assume I am on a PGWP after doing my Master degree and I am in Canada and my CRS score is high enough to be selected but would fall below cut-off if I got married.

I got married after ITA but my wife is outside Canada and I am inside Canada. What is the best way, if possible, to include her in my EE application without having to recalculate my score?

You have to include her if you're already married, and it will impact your score if you got married before submitting your PR application. If you got married after submitting your application then there is no impact on your score, although they may consider whether you misrepresented your marital status at the time of your ITA or application submission in order to avoid losing points.

Thanks for your reply. So if after I got my ITA, I travelled from Canada to my home country to marry because I heard they no longer recognize marriage by proxy (please correct me if I am wrong ) and was able to do that before eAPR I would be able to include her in my application without impacting my score?

Should I do eAPR before or after come back to Canada? As I have heard to include the spouse that must be done before you land in Canada.

No, if you marry before submitting your e-APR, your score is recalculated. If you marry afterward, it is not, but you should not be seen as deliberately delaying/concealing your marriage. Your spouse must be properly declared and examined once married.

See here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-electronic-application-on-section-a11-2.html

Thanks a lot for the clarification. To quote from the link
For example, if an applicant marries before they submit their e-APR but informs IRCC of the marriage only after they submit their e-APR, the marriage can be taken into account as part of the section A11.2 assessment.

If, however, an applicant marries after they submit their e-APR, then informs IRCC of the marriage, the marriage cannot be taken into account as part of the section A11.2 assessment. However, the change in circumstance may affect whether the applicant still meets the program requirements. See below for details.

Section A11.2 does not apply when an applicant adds a family member to their application after the e-APR; however, the family member will have to be assessed, and the principal applicant must provide IRCC with the Additional Family Information form [IMM 5406 (PDF, 570KB)] and pay the applicable fees online.

So basically it should be safe to marry after submitting the eAPR. After I submit the eAPR, I should travel from Canada back home to marry then add inform IRCC of the change in family composition.
