Two friends of mine just got married in the United States a couple months ago. She's a Canadian citizen, he's a US citizen.

They want to move to British Columbia where she's from. What's the fastest way they can do this? From what I've read, it seems if she would applied to sponsor him, and then he got a Temporary Resident Visa while they wait, that would be the fastest way for both to be here. The sponsorship application from outside Canada is 6-12 months and the TRV would cut down some of that time, but is there anything faster? She has to leave the US soon, and they don't want to have to live apart for very long.

In my experience because US is a visa-exempt country they would not issue a TRV. I was told by CBSA that I was not able to obtain a TRV but issued a visitor's record, instead. I can't remember the reasoning. Perhaps it is due to US being visa exempt, not sure. However, if they are able to show ties to US for the non-CA resident, they should be able to obtain a visitor's record while they are going through the process of PR. They would have to show proof that they either filed the app already or that they are working on it. Even if the forms are not filled out, she can take the form with her and show what partial pages have been worked on, etc. I don't see it as being a huge problem, as I was able to obtain one no problem. Hope this helps. I'm sure the senior members here will be able to give better advice. :)

It's do-able, where he visits her during the application process. As you probably realize, her husband won't be able to work in Canada until he has a PR.
