Hii. Me and my spouse know each other since 2015, we studied together and 2020 we came into relationship. He is PR and i am on maintained status for visitor record from august 2025, before that i was on pgwp. We living together since july 2025. We did court marriage with just two witness as our family is opposed to this relationship. So, now we are planning to submit spousal sponsorship. Do you think it will create any problem because of mu status and small wedding. Plz help me with your knowledge.

Include a short note that your family members did not attend/participate because they don't approve, therefore small marriage.

That is an incredibly different situation. You had family support and a very good reason why your wedding may not be able to be public since you are still in the closet. The fact that only moved in right before PGWP expired and got married when one person likely had no realistic pathway to PR raises red flags.
Agree that you should make sure you include very good proof that this is a longterm dating relationship (unclear when you actually started dating), why your family is opposed to the marriage, why you didn’t even have friends attend the wedding and not even a small celebration, why you only got married after one person didn’t have a pathway to remain in Canada, etc. Would encourage you to be very public about the fact that you are married for example on things social media, as long as safety is not an issue, because IRCC is very aware that people with no pathway to PR are suddenly getting married and many of these relationships/marriages are only for immigration purposes.
We did dinner party with just two friends after around 15 days because my spouse do closing shifts.. so because of schedules and now we are going to celebrate with my friends (3) who are in different city. So will it be helpful or not. I also stayed for 15 days during may with my spouse do i need to mention that as well in my file
Spending time with a boyfriend of girlfriend means very little unless you live together especially right before you get married. Proof that you have spent 15 days together for months to years while dating would be proof of a longterm dating relationship for IRCC. Unless there was very clear references to a marriage celebration having dinner with 2 friends 15 days after you get married is typically unrelated. Most people plan their wedding/reception with availability of friends and family to attend that day or within a few days maximum. In your case you are essentially trying to prove you didn’t get married purely for immigration purposes.
Yes since July2025 but the thing is at the end of July my work permit got expired and i am on maintained status now. Got married in mid December 2025
The big issue is that you applied to extend your WP without any grounds. You appear to have gotten married knowing the WP refusal is imminent. You only started living together when your PGWP was expiring. Hopefully you gave substantial proof that this is a serious longterm relationship that dates back to way before your PGWP was expiring.
