Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi All,

I will be landing soon and will be getting married. Could you guys please tell me whats the procedure for bringing my spouse to Canada?
Can she get a Work Permit (as it takes 1.5years to get her PR)?
How much time it takes?

Please share your experience (issues, way to eases the process, proactive approaches, etc)

Thank you in advance.

I assume you'll be getting married AFTER you land.

She will only qualify for a work permit if you sponsor her using the inland method. To sponsor her using the inland method, she must first obtain a tourist visa and travel to Canada. If she is approved for a TRV and comes here, you can then apply inland and also apply for a work permit.

If she cannot obtain a TRV, then you'll have to apply for her outland. In that case she won't qualify for a work permit and won't be able to work until after she is approved for PR.

Yes I will get married by the end of 2017 i.e. after landing.
So her work permit is based on qualification of TRV?

Yes - her work permit is based on first getting a TRV. Once she is in Canada, you would then sponsor her for PR using the inland method and include an open work permit application. The work permit will be granted approximately four months after you submit the inland application.
