Do not send your original marriage certificate just a copy

Do you send the original one and not a copy

From your previous posts, your wife is applying in the Philippines.

As per the country specific checklist:

8 IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS

1) For the Philippines

The following ORIGINAL documents are required for you (principal applicant, regardless of age) and for each of your dependent
children, if applicable:

• Birth Certificate
• Marriage Certificate
• Death Certificate
• No record of marriage (CENOMAR) or Advisory on marriages

The reply below yours says you need to send originals. Did you just send copies and got your visa

It's a country specific requirement. Not every applicant will have this request. For Western Europe applicants, you send a copy. (We had ours certified, just in case, although this is not required).

Agreed.

The poster aeastmond is American; he or she is not required to send originals, only copies.

For the Philippines, you MUST send originals. Your app will be returned if you don't.

Does the copy have to be certified or can it just be a scanned colour copy? Mine is a BC marriage certificate?

Just scanned should be OK.
