Hi,

I got married last month.I have received an email from CIC asking me to tell them about my marital status change. I am planning to update them about it. I have few querries.

1) I do not want PR for my spouse now, as it will take few more months if I start the process for her. Is it possible that I can apply for her PR after few months?
2) Later on, can my wife apply as dependent PR application? or under which category her PR application will be considered?

1) I don't know why you would want to delay your spouses PR, since you guys are trying to settle in Canada. You can delay in sending the documents, but CIC must need to know about them.

2) If you get PR first, then it will fall under Family class. Trust me CEC is better option than Family class for getting PR.

You don't have any choice.. If you are married, your spouse must be added to your application, even if she doesn't intend to come to Canada yet.

If you exclude your wife now from your application, you will not be able to sponsor her in the Family Class in the future.

Basically, you have no choice, you have to add your wife to your application. It may add a little processing time, but it beats the heck out of the alternatives (refusal).

Take their advice....and be happy..dont try to oversmart them..

Thanks All.

Any idea, how much time will it take to get the PR for my wife if I apply now?
