Raichu,

Depending on when you apply, you need to keep the most accurate address in the application. And if his/her address changes in the future after you apply, then you need to update the same.

Pari,

I got a reply from CPP-O within 3-4 days from what I recollect. You might not get a reply if you have not been able to clearly convince them that you are authorized to get information about this particular application.

Couple of pointers:
- Did you email them from the same email address which you had mentioned in the application
- Also did you quote your application number and CID

This is all I did and I did get a response from them.

Thanks!

I got a response yesterday.

Hello confuse application,

I read all your post and its very helpful to a person who is getting started like me. I am planning to get married this yes but my application is on process, that's why I am searching for answer. Can you please tell me if it is a good idea if I print all the application form that needed to sign? its because the spouse have to fill up some application form right? or should I wait until I get back here in Canada. I am a worker here with open work permit and he is studying in the country where we meet.

Any idea please help Thank you!

i have the same case. my husband is the primary applicant we just got married last may 2014. we got an email that requires us to send some documents and fill out some forms from their site.

i just have a concern re the IMM 0008 form wherein i have to fill out the PAST HISTORY part. it includes all my activities since i was 18. do i need supporting documents like diploma, transcript of records and certificates of employment? based on your experience, was your wife obliged to submit those? thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone for making it a lot clear. I however have a doubt. Since you will be asked to fill in the main application(IMM0008) again with the details of your spouse, what if your spouse does not have his/her passport ready at that time? Should you mark your dependent as not accompanying, providing this reason and and answer "Marital Status Change After Filling Application? " as NO. What will be the implications? will your spouse still be able to apply for PR after he/she obtains his/her passport? What will be the process?

I sent my application in Dec 2014 and had gotten married in Nov 2014. Since the marraige registration was not done I had not changed my marital status in the application. I had not sent any letter outlining the above mentioned situation along with my application either.
Will it cause a problem in my application and my wife's application(I wish to add her as a dependent)if I update my marital status now? ..Since I didnt update my marital status in the original application even though the marriage had taken place.
Any advise would be helpful

Hello Everyone,

Could someone with prior experience help me with this:

I applied for immigration under Quebec Skilled Worker and I received my file number a month ago.
I got married 2 weeks ago and now I want to add my spouse name to the application process. I emailed CIC about the change in my marital status but I haven't received reply yet.

As I was reading the information in this discussion I realized that I need to get CSQ for him.

Can anyone help me what kind of documents and forms I need to provide to get CSQ and how long it will take? Does he need to know French?

Thank-You

If you meet the definition of common-law partner (lived together for at least one year), then write "common law." For the purpose of immigration, it is the same thing as "married" - if you were single, you would not be able to include a your partner on the application.

Hello

I hope I can get a helpful answer. I applied for PR through Express Entry CEC in Jan 2017 when I was still single and my spouse applied for his PR through provincial in Dec 2016 when he was still single .
We got married in April 2017 and my own PR Visa got approved in June 2017 while my husband is still waiting for his own PR through provincial. I am yet to Do my landing this Month July but I have not updated CIC on my change in Marital Status. This is because :

1. My husband is ok to go ahead and wait for his PR through provincial
2. Am scared that if I update cic on my Marital change is will delay my PR and my Work permit is due to expire in September 2017.

So my question is :

1. Can I go ahead and do my landing while my husband wait for his PR through provincial which he is ok with . Also we applied individually when we were still single until I got my own PR visa .
2. Will it hinder anything for me in future ?
3. My husband said he will update CIC on his own Marital Status since his application is still in process and advise I should go ahead and do my landing since my PR has already been approved and issued for Landing. Should I be worried ?

I will appreciate a good response thanks .

Note my Work Permit is due to expire September 2017 and I will not want anything to delay me from landing .

Thanks

You have to update CIC regarding your marriage status and add your husband to your application. You have no choice. Failure to do so is misrepresentation. If you proceed as a single person and land in Canada using a visa issued to a single person, you'll be committing misrepresentation (lying in an immigration application) which could result in your PR status being revoked. Again, you MUST add your husband to your application. There is no choice in the matter.

Thank you so much for the information. I will update CIC.

So please can you tell me

1. Where I can go and update CIC for my change in Marital Status ?

2. Should I go ahead and cancel my Landing appoint that I have booked with the officer?

3. Also can I inform CIC that I am married but my spouse is applying individually as a primary applicant ? Doing that will they still demand a medicals and other supporting documents from us?

4. Will CIC also want me to submit another new applications for my self which I have done before during my Express entry ?

5. Do you have any idea how long it will take for me to get my PR back after I have changed my Marital Status ?

Thank you.
