Had my virutal ceremony today. Had 130 people. Seemed REALLY organized. They have their process down to an art. They now change your name for you. Instructions are really clear. The registration part took about 30 mins (We started at 830a). The official ceremony started right at 900a and lasted 30 mins. Then final instructions and pictures with Judge were about 10 mins more. Signed off at 936am.

Can we participate in the ceremony via iPhone?

Finally some traction, today I received the update on tracker LPP & Php, completed, Background and prohibitions still in progress.

Question for the experts:

From what I understand, the main reason for grouping applications as a family is to ensure (best effort) that everyone gets the same oath date. But what happens if individual applications within the group progress at different rates? Is it possible for one person’s application to be held up by another’s until they reach the same stage?

In my case, we filed as a family. As some of you know, I only have prohibitions left, while my wife still has both background and prohibitions pending. She was asked for fingerprints, which likely means she’s undergoing additional security checks. No updates for both of us for 3 months now.

Theoretically, if my prohibitions get completed before hers, I’d be ready for the oath while she’s still being processed. That makes me wonder is my file being held back until hers catches up?

I’m now considering requesting a split of our applications, even if that means giving up the chance for a joint oath. Of course there is no guarantee that I will have my application progress independently but it’s a thought.

What could invalidate this theory if there is a story out there of someone in a group with all green checks yet with an oath not started until the other group members were cleared or caught up.

Thoughts?

Yes. They'll all basically proceed to final stage no faster than the slowest one.

While no-one can say for sure that it is in fact ready etc., yes, it's possible that's the issue and it's being held up.

You can request to split them, there seems to be no defined practice or experience on how well this works. But you can try if you wish.

Hi everyone,
How long before the oath ceremony should I receive the email about how to download the e-certificate? My ceremony is on Friday, and I’ve only received the email with the ceremony details so far. Should I call them to ask about?

Called IRCC today and still my LPP has not started. The last update was background completed on May 30 and since then nothing.

How is it fair that applications from June and July are already completed while others like mine are just sitting there collecting dust It is frustrating to see how uneven and unpredictable the process has become.

I've written this here many times - but I see zero evidence to suggest that when call centre people say something is 'not started' that it is meaningful in any way. It doesn't seem to match reality or the GCMS notes.

[Editadd for clarity] It clearly does NOT mean that LPP has not been started.

[What does it mean? Probably some database setting / field that has naming conventions that do not correspond to common sense English meanings, and it gets 'set' by other actions. This shows up in other iRCC database names and whatnot - does not correspond to what is happening. Call centre people are the least likely to know what it actually means, and can only report what it 'says.'].

So my bottom line: getting upset about this 'not started' does not make sense. IMO. If you want to be upset anyway, by all means.

100% there are many cases mentioned here whereby some people called IRCC, being told LPP not strated and then the next day they get LPP completed. So does seem to be a bit weird. But I do agree that the process isnt fair anyway. If you look at the processing times, there are about 40,000 applicants who have applied before July 2024 (i.e. their applications exceed current processing times) and seem to be still waiting. That is about 15% of total applications outstanding, a lot of people. But then again, compare processing times to those in Australia for instance, its about the same

To be clear: I am not claiming the process is 'fair', I'm not claiming that there aren't issues and delays (and a lot outstanding), etc.*

I'm making one very specific and limited claim: that the statements about eg LPP 'not started' we get from IRCC are NOT useful indicators, and 'not started' does not mean what 'normal English language' would seem to indicate it means.

And therefore, getting upset because or complaining specifically about LPP not started is pointless - it's getting angry about the reading of a gauge that we do not know how to read (and may not be connected to anything at all).

If people are disappointed because it's not fair overall or delayed or they just feel like being pissed off and venting it online helps them in some way - fine. But those who get upset because it says 'not started' are mistaken.

IMO.

* If I were to point the finger at anything as the source of the biggest problems, it's security and background checks. The situation is messed up.

We had our ceremony today. Truly exciting moment!

We were not asked to confirm the form of the certificates, so we requested switching to e-certificates instead of paper ones in the email with the signed ceremony forms. As we originally requested paper certificates, we have not yet received the link and instructions on how to download the e-certificates.

Good luck everyone awaiting the ceremony!

Ohh. In a similar boat. Where did you apply from? I applied from GTA. Last update was a background check complete on June 4th. After that, nothing. It's been 4.5 months. LPP not started.

They might say this and in the next couple of weeks everything would be complete. That happened to me
