1. Application file on March 24
2. Citizenship Test updated as completed: May 20, 2025
3. Background completed on July 12, 2025

Post this nothing happened. It’s been more than 2 months. Is it normal, shall I contact them.
Similar timeline to you except my BG was completed back in June and physical presence and language were done for me on July 11 - nothing since then. Waiting on my prohibitions to complete.

We just submitted our passport applications in person at the downtown Toronto office, so I thought I’d share a quick overview and some tips.

The whole process took about 1.5 hours.
  • The office opens at 8:30 AM. I arrived at 7:45 AM and queued until around 8:15 AM, when a security guard handed out tickets.
  • I was roughly 20th in queue, and by the time we entered there was atleast 50 people queueing up!
  • Groups are then moved upstairs to level 3, where you’re put in order and wait to be called in.
  • First, an official pre-checks your application and assigns you a new number.
  • Once your number is called, you go up to the desk, finalize the process, and you’re done.
Processing times for in-person applications is typically 10 business days. We were told our passports will be ready for collection on Oct 7th. I chose to pay an extra $20/PP for in-person pickup (instead of mail via Canada Post) since I’ve got work travel coming up.

Things to note:
  • Best time to go: When I left at 9:15 AM, there was no outside queue. If you’re going to the DT Toronto office, I’d actually suggest arriving closer to 9:30–10 AM, instead of lining up early.
  • Passport photos: My original photos (from Shoppers) were rejected. The official still processed my application so I could pay, then I just stepped out to get new pictures. There’s a passport photo shop right next door — highly recommend.
  • The official did mention Shoppers isn't the best at following their guidelines, just a heads up.
  • I submitted my partner’s application for her. To do this, you need proof that you live at the same address. I brought her driver’s licence, which was accepted right away. We also had a signed letter just in case, but it wasn’t needed.

I went to the same location to submit mine today as well, around 12:30pm. There was a bit of a line outside, but nothing too bad. The clerk screening was quick, though my photos from Staples got rejected. Luckily, I had a backup set I took at a convenience store, and those were accepted.

I paid the extra $50 for express since I’ve got a trip this weekend. They told me to come back Thursday between 9:30am and 3:30pm to pick it up. My office is just a stone’s throw away, so that works out perfectly.

Are you able to download the e-Certificate now?

Got the email this morning, logged on and was able to download mine.
Yeah I just emailed them on the 2nd day, the e-cert was available within 10 minutes of the email so I'm not sure if that was the reason or just luck. I was in a rush because I have a trip coming up next week and I needed the e-cert for passport application, but all went well. I got e-cert on the 18th (Oath 16th) and applied for passport on the 19th, and my pick up date is 29th.

Hey! I know you're doing your digital nomad thing.

I'm keeping my address in Canada with my previous landlord, but I am actually living in Colombia at this moment.
Seems like you never really updated your US address to the application and used your friend's address.

Did you have any issues with it? I am planning not to update the address to prevent any complications but I don't know if this is a risky approach.
I'm also filing CRA tax return as if I am living in Canada as well.

My LPP was completed July 30 and I still never got oath scheduled. What's going on? Everyone else is getting their oaths scheduled one week or less after LPP completion? I'm in Newfoundland (Atlantic)

I’ve been scheduled for the online citizenship test starting Sept 26, but I haven’t received the official email with instructions yet (I’ve checked spam/junk). Should I keep waiting, or is this the right time to send a web form/call IRCC? For those who’ve taken it, when did your test email usually arrive?

If you see on the Citizenship Tracker that you’ve been asked to take a citizenship test or participate in an interview, hearing or ceremony, but you haven’t received an official invitation from us yet, we might still be planning your event. Your invitation is the official confirmation.

If you haven’t gotten it 6 calendar days before the event, check your junk mail folder and contact our Client Support Centre to make sure we have the right contact information for you.

Given this statement, you need to take some action. Call or write to them.

Hey question about the passport photos - aren't we supposed to have the guarantor sign 1 of the photos? Did they waive that rule on the day?

Oh wow - looks like they're pretty strict with the photos. I was planning to go to Staples..

Did they say why they rejected your photo? Any recommendations on where I should get them done?

For those who attended the in person ceremony in Scarborough or Mississauga - how strict are they about the 1 guest rule? I would love to bring two people with me but unsure if I should or not.
