This thought has been bugging me for some time: why there's no "partner temporary visa" in Canada? I mean, even if the processing time is short, why our partners can't come with us to some place they will call home?

Granted, I understand they are worried about MOC in CIC, but so what? They are giving temporary visas for studying and for jobs. No one seems to worried about the what if scenario of if they decide to stay in Canada. On the contrary, there is a immigration class called "Canadian Experience" or something like that if I am not mistaken that deals with exactly with those people. So CIC has that part figured out.
Now can someone please tell me why the same principle can't be applied to people with Canadian partners? i.e. temporary visa till they get their PR sorted.

probably something to do with what if the relationship does not work out.....if they already have their PR no problem...but if they don't then when the visa expires and they don't leave the government has another headache...then they get into the whole...pull my application....etc. as well they won't be able to work cause until they have their PR no sin card no med coverage nothing so I think that is just a whole other can of worms....as much as I would like the idea and also if my husband could not work it would drive him crazy

Well, yes, I agree with these, but at least they can be a bit easier with the TRVs?
Having said that, as far as I know, people who come to Canada on a work permit, they can bring their spouses, and their spouse will have and open work permit. I would expect the same for a Canadian. Remember that we are all being screened so they are sure we won't be a burden to the government. So why not come up with a temporary visa for the approved sponsored?

I guess having our xmas turning to skype-mas last year wasn't really that pleasant. I am really not looking forward to another one!!

Yes I agree there should be a middle ground here. I was really hoping my husband would be here by Christmas this year but I think those hopes are dashed unless Havana goes into high speed once they get my file!! I am just so concerned that they have lost it and at this point I have no recourse. I think I am just stressing but the longer it takes the more worried I get.

Hello there dear! I feel the same way *whew* but as what my husband is telling me, we cant do anything about it already. As long as we correctly fill -out and made sure that CIC got our applications.. it's up to them and things will just come to pass. it's hard not to think about it but I guess we just need to keep on praying, have the faith! All of us will be reunited with our loved ones and it's just a matter of time! :) We have been waiting for more than 90 days also and the CIC call center is just teling us that it is still processing the feb 22 applicants @_@

@pinder: you will be fine... if i am not mistaken, i think you messed up on your initial filing, so prob that's why they are prob taking extra time on your file, or prob put it back in que/line so you may have to wait out a bit...

dont worry, things will be sorted out for you soon enough, from these forums, try to absorb good solid info, dont fall into the hole of high expectancies in your excitement, it is a long process in the whole, be optimistic, and spend more time with the wife keeping her happy ;) that's whats important...

I agree. They could implement a special TRV allowance for those whose sponsorship is approved. They have already the guarantee that we stay straight for our spouses in case all is fake. Maybe a return to home country could be guaranteed with proof of paid return ticket and deposit of both passports ( sponsor and spouse ). Heck, i am even willing to pay a extra fee. I find it a shame that my wife cannot see and experience the country she is coming to. She has no clue how it is here. Would be great to start integrating people coming from other countries in family cases earlier to make it easier for them. Another shame is that my family never have met my wife as not everybody can just go for vacation to China, its not around the corner.
