HI casayed! How are you?

Yes, I know. But as I said before in another post, the fact that Rome VO doesn't have big traffic to handle means that they are also understaffed.
e.g. London has : 11 Canadian based and 50 local staff
Manila : 9 Canadian based and 50 local staff
Singapore: 7 Canadian based and 26 local staff
Rome: 3 Canadian based and 5 local staff

So things are in proportion. The fact that you are at a low-demand VO doesn't mean you will get processed faster and the fact that you are at a high-demand one doesn't mean you will get delayed.
There is something else going on with the way they process us and I can't figure it out! :D

dEAR thalia,
thanks for the greetings! mine is in london vo...i thought so too that it would really take a lot longer... now i think it all boils down on the completeness of the docs sent...i sent before all docs including PCCs in UAE and PHL where i lived...i also sent supporting docs even they did not ask for it as i deemed it necessary for them to understand my case...its written on cic guide to write written explanation on items that requires explanation which i also did so that they would further understand my case...in MR letter they did not request for updated PCC....moreso, it will boil to the complexity of our case...im single, never married, and my employment record is rather straight forward...wht do u think?
but i just hope things will continue running smoothly...

regards,
reynold

Hi Thaila

Do you know the statistics of staff at Accra VO also?
It would be good to have that info

HI Reynold,

I'm not quite sure about this either.
Let's think of an example:
There is an applicant, divorced, re-married, kids from his previous marriage, step-kids from his current wife and kids from his new family. Lived in 5 different countries in the past, sent no PCCs initially and got a big employment history.
His file arrives at the VO and after 2-3 weeks the officer opens the file that CIC sent. What the officer should do? To say "Oh, that's a big headache for me. Leave it for later" ? Or maybe seeing that it will take longer time to do the background checks, he should put this application immediately "in process" and at first ask him for PCCs and any other supporting documents that would help? Then at the next BFD, if satisfied with additional documents,to send a MR or if not satisfied to call for an interview.

And I gave this example cause I see many applicants of London VO who applied before 2011 to be still "received by visa office". I wonder how much complicated their situation could be, to delay becoming "in process". Most likely it goes simply by the officers mood... :P

Hi Canada,
as I see Accra: 4 Canadian and 14 local.

The info I got from this site: http://www.immigrationmanuals.ca/CIC.php
I don't know if they are accurate, reliable or reflect the current numbers of employees. I only hope they do provide good info. And if not accurate at least I could estimate and make my own conclusions.
Hope it helps!

Good luck to everyone!!! :D

MR must be submitted 60 days from date indicated on the MR request...as i hvae noticed, the date on my MR is a day after my e-cas turned In-process(June 02, 2011) my MR is dated June 03, 2011. I do not know about Pcc since i submitted it along with my application before and they ahvent ask for a new one yet, may be at a later stage they will ask for an updated one....i suggets that you check youre mailing address. and if acquiring PCC in places u hve stayed for 6 months takes time, better get one already. especially if u hve resided in USA..

well yes, i agree the officers mood would count as well...may be just put smileys on our applications...hoping to change their mood anyhow...hahahaha

Thanks everyone. It was stated in my MR that I need to submit FBI cert.( I went to the states last year.) I just wonder why they asked me to submit one when my stay in the US is only 5 months and 25 days, I thought only those who stayed at east 6 months and over will provide clearance. Anyway here is my timeline:
March 23,2011- app. received
April 18- PER
May 12-AOR
June 6 - In process(It says they started processing June 3 same date with MR)
June 17- MR received (dated June 3)
Im sure this FBI thing will cause me some delay. :(

hello mitz!
sorry to hear about this additional pcc...but 5 months and 25 days is almost 6 months already...i suppose you went there under tourist visa right?

yap I went there with a tourist visa. So it will be considered 6 months? I thought those who just stayed minimum of 6 months and over will provide clearance that's why I did not secure one. Im sure this will cause delay on my application. :( :( :(

Hi Sam 786,

Congrats mate! Greta news. Can you please share your time lines from the date of application until MR or even better if you can update your time lines on the left of the post. Please this will be very helpful for the rest of us waiting. Any way wish you a smooth sail ahead

anyways, since they asked for it already then you have to prepare one...just inform VO that it might take sometime before u can send them one...

Hi Reynold,

What is your NOC? Mine is 0631, just curious to know thanks
