You put his casket in you take his casket out you put his casket in and you shake it all about. You do the dead man's Hokey-Pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what its all about.

Processing time was 7 months when I submitted our application. In a year it has doubled. So when I'm told that I'm still well within the processing time I tell them that their processing time is irrelevant if applications that have been submitted well after mine have already been approved and finalized. I will wait a year so long as everyone who applied after me waits a year too.
no it changed to 9 months prior to me sending in jan 2012, it was 8 months after i got married in sept 2, 2011 and it was 7 months in july 1, 2011 when we were planning our wedding i should know im the oldest app

Yes, you would have to get a visitor's visa first! There's not a huge chance of that, unless your wife is pretty nicely established in the Philippines. Worst case scenario you're out $75 for the application fee. You will know within a few weeks if it's approved or not.
forget the visitor visa its automatically a know know once you applied for a spousal, only people like gort can get them and he didnt succeed

I'm going by what was posted on the CIC website in April of 2012 just prior to the submission of my application. Not sure when it had changed to 8 months. I think sometime around August then shortly after that it went to 11 months then 12 and now 14.

Well guys, I was planning to get my whole family together and announce the happy news that he has his visa.. when he got the visa. But he said something vague about leaving the Philippines on Facebook and all of a sudden everybody is asking me what's going on. It was a bit of a spoiler.. but I was super disappointed by everyone's reactions - My Mom just commented "oh, so soon?" and immediately changed the topic.. My Dad has hearing loss and attention deficit so I'm not sure if he got the story or not. Grandparents are still trying to hook me up with available nerds as though I'm still single.. My brother's reaction was "oh, huh, that's been a while" and his wife was pretty incredulous that CIC accepted us as a couple and commented "but doesn't he have kids or something?"

I really want him to feel welcomed and it's super depressing that people can't accept us as a couple as much as they would accept other people. So this is kind of anti-climactic. :'( Hope it all can change when he gets here.

Hey Steph cheer up... what really matters is what you two think of each other. Other family members will come around when they see you together. I must say I am impressed that your grandparents facebook :). My mum just got a iPad for her 70th from the kids and I am scared she is using it as a cutting board.

My Grandparents don't facebook.. They are super old. My Mom got an ipad mini for Xmas from all of us and it took her a while to warm up to it, but now she uses it all the time (to email, creep on my Dad's facebook ::) and also to surf kittens and crafts) It took a while to get her hooked on it.
