Oh wow. Small world. I grew up in carmen. We still have a small farm there but its been ages since my last visit. did you guys ever picked up Cebuano?

his family also works fields in that area. I only know a few phrases. mostly pertaining to the dog. But I find it a lot easier to eavesdrop then in Tagalog I have no idea...

Haha and balut. I guess it makes it worse. No I don't remember kapalong. I plan to pick up my wife whenever she gets her visa and perhaps swing by Carmen. But it must be a huge ass change for him.. From a very rural area to Vancouver island

He was living in Davao, and worked overseas for 10 years.. sa barko. But yeah, he's missing a lot of things about the Philippines.

One of my Quebecois coworkers who attended my wedding in Davao was forced by my wife's relatives to eat durian. He ended up liking it especially durian ice cream.

I guess that's normal. Felt the same when we moved here back in 98. He's settling in OK though?

Just ok lang.. he's working so he's happy about that but feels a bit stuck in the house with no friends. They hired another Filipino guy at his work because they liked him so much they wanted to get more.. so for the first time he had a person to talk to even if it was in Tagalog. I got the Filipino channel installed in the bedroom and he's pretty entertained by that, sometimes he wakes me up laughing along to the TV. It seems to give him a better sense of home than our 200 other channels of cable can.Tomorrow we are going to Vancouver where there's much more Filipinos and I hope he will feel himself at home.. planning trips to Goldilox and Max's, to get his fill of food.

Oh lol he's doing well then. I think maayo iya kahimtang.. It's good he found a job right away. You guys are lucky you got some Filipino restaurants nearby. Our nearest Goldilocks and jollibee is in NYC but there might be a max in Toronto now. I just got the Filipino channel too in preparation for my wife. I guess I have lived here long enough I can't relate or understand the shows.. They often talk too fast in Tagalog.. Just can't understand it. But I'm sure my wife will be happy.

I've been to CFO yesterday. There's a lady I've met, her medical will expire this Sept. but she said her visa will expire on Oct. 24... . Very fortunate!!
