Take a print out of the price on line and you, can get it at that price. Steph's price for 632 on the 6th is really and there are others in June too at that price.

I'm going on from Vancouver to Winnipeg. That changes things considerably. I was hoping to get West Jet to Vancouver and then PAL to Manila but they don't seem to line up.
Then just the return trip for my wife.

I feel like I have to edit this... it's sooo Stoopid that you can sponsor a Grandparent but not a kid over the age of 18. IMO, any child should be eligible and way more so then Grandparents. They should do away with grandparent sponsoring and allow children of any age to be sponsored. Let the Grandparents have a super visa and the kids can become PR's.

I totally agree with you... I was also curious as to how many grandparents passed away while waiting for their sponsorship.

I see 928 for the MNL -> HK -> YVR -> YWG (that is the one way flight on June 6th)

It is one way to get rid of the backlog :)

I will double check that then.

All I get is errors. Nothing comes up from my search

Changing the quotas is the new way to "meet targets".

Also by raising the qualifying income and income period and only accepting CRA docs they ensure that many of the original 80,000 backlog no longer qualify to bring their parents. So that helps if you are from a more affluent family. Of course you are screwed if you aren't (which do you suppose is the larger group?).

And the 18 year old limit will really mess with a lot of lower income PRs and especially LCP people wanting to bring their children. They should have something along the lines of "18 at the time of application" or "18 at the time of listing as a dependent on a PR app".

I never looked into it, but is there an income threshold for dependent kids?

I don't know about kids, I think they are the same as spouse. They raised the parents and grandparents one by 30%.

This is borderline criminal to me. I agree with Steph that you should be able to sponsor your children at any age and your parents can get a supervisa. That makes the most sense and is the most fair for everyone.

Jerking around with qualification requirements is just like the introduction of new tax deductions this year that affect maybe 2% of the population. Their action plan is more like a suction plan.

Also about the "The modest increase in the MNI"...

You have to show you had that income for 3 years prior to submitting, not one year.

I never noticed this before...

You can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.

Interesting...

Anyway, I noticed you are on the hook financially for dependents for 10 years or until age 25. So why not make the age 25 instead of 18?

Thanks. I'm going to double check with my travel agent why we can't go through Hong Kong? This would save us a few about $400.
