HK airport is not that bad. But not as good as Soeul for a layover.

I would flyout to Vancouver to meet her if she came that way. Montreal is just a lot closer ;) Plus I would save on my flight and her flight to here.

I'm going to the Philippines to get my wife. I want to experience her experience plus I fooking love Vancouver Airport. Nice and open and clean. Good restaurants and a comfortable place to kill a few hours before the fight on to Winnipeg.

I will check with the travel agency again. I personally don't see a problem with a few hours in Hong Kong. You get to stretch the legs and get to say you have been to Hong Kong....LOL. I thought maybe there may be an issue with a one way ticket or requiring a visa to land even if you are only making a connecting flight.

You might want to check flights from Cebu if that is a better exit point too.

Ahhhh Vancouver airport. Nothin better :D It's so soothing with all the waterfalls and native art.

Except for having to walk all the way across the airport and through the strictest domestic airport security in the world. Nothing like having to throw out half the contents of your carry-on to fly to Victoria that you have carried on flights all around the world in the past 24 hours of flying. They made me toss out a bottle filled with sand because the contents of the bottle were not labelled as "sand." Twas a sad day ::)

HK has an entry/exit fee of about $20 (maybe each way?) but it's included in the ticket price. No problem for Filipinos. If you're going different airlines you need at least an hour to walk out of the security zone to re-check bags and be re-ticketed. Then big lineup for customs/security again and take the train to your gate. I've hauled @ss through that one a few times and clocked about 50 mins total time. The airline will demand to see your ticket out of the country that you are flying to if you don't have a visa. I had to buy a ticket OUT of the Philippines when flying in through HK before they would let me on the plane.

Cebu to HK or Macau is a good one too. Macau to HK is only about an hour ferry trip total. It's kind of cool to drive over the bridge of Macau for a few minutes transfer from the Airport to the Ferry.

My wife is in Antipolo so we would leave from Manila.

Too much work. Guess we will leave from Manila.

The best thing I like about landing in Vancouver Airport is the Harvey's. Only 1 Harvey's in Winnipeg and not convenient to get to. Plus I like the fact that I don't have to travel with luggage anymore from here to Antipolo. Just a small backpack for my laptop and snack food.

Look out, you're just asking to be loaded up with Pasalubong from just about anybody here.

I take some small things for the family but they aren't really interested. My Tatay loves wine and my brother in law likes scotch.

I plan to process all the paperwork for canadian citizenship for my newborn (maybe even before i start the common-law sponsorship) but i get confused by stuff like "dependent child"
when the 3 of us travel to canada together, who is the child dependent to? both parents?

Can I (the canadian father) take care of bringing the child, or does the Filipino mother must bring the child? or must she fill up her forms with a dependent child?

Your child is Canadian if you made it. Just go to the CEM and submit his citizenship stuff. He/she is the dependent of both parents.

Well, still no GCMS notes, and still no follow-up call from the MP office (they said they would call last Friday). I'm starting to wonder if they did anything and maybe it was just my app's time to be looked at. I think I will give them till Friday and pay them a visit...

Actually she has done the meds, but hasn't couriered the pp. Maybe I should have her do that, make sure they have it, THEN visit them... :D

I would refer to the advice on this thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t51641.0.html;msg401555#msg401555

PMM is an expert so he/she knows. The child is already Canadian so doesn't need to be listed as dependent on the forms.

They can't do anything without the passport. I seriously think they put the app on the shelf until they get it.
