What was that Monty Python sketch where the guy did every single job and just switched his sign on the desk? Kind of like a scene from Planes Trains and Automobiles? That's what I'm picturing here.

I was thinking the exact same thing... Classic.

Maybe the guy at the consular section told them to turn on their email server

LOL.

Hi guys, what do you think of this.. it's pretty weird. Every since Monday (Manila Time), my guy has been receiving calls from Canadian numbers. They're always daytime for the Philippines so really weird times in Canada. The calls have all displayed different Canadian area codes. First one he answered, it was from Surrey BC and it was like he was overhearing the conversation of 2 people but they couldn't hear him. It was 2 girls having a bizarre conversation about what their Grandmas did. Then there was another call from Calgary.. he missed the call. He phoned back the Surrey number. It was an East Indian guy who claimed not to have called him. Then yesterday he got a call from Toronto. It was some guy speaking Chinese and they couldn't understand each other. It would have been 3am in Ontario at that time. Then he got another missed call from Toronto (different area code) this morning.

The weird thing is that the Embassy said they were trying to reach him by phone.. but all those calls were super weird. Nobody has his number except the Embassy, my parents, and his friends in the Philippines. I googled it and it's not like his ex posted it online or anything. Also weird is that they are exclusively Canadian numbers.

When the embassy calls do they use a software to mimic Canadian numbers? I just can't figure out why this is happening all of a sudden.

Is his number a cell number?

They say they have an email address to respond to but every one you try doesn't work?

Sounds more like Monty Python's Cheese Sketch.

His phone may have been cloned. Who is his provider?

Is it prepaid? Would be futile to clone a prepaid phone.

What if the cloner doesn't realize the number is a prepaid?

I think most Phils cell phones are prepaid. They don't do monthly billing as much as we do. Maybe CIC was cloned (OH NO! THERE's TWO OF THEM!!!!). :P

The cloner doesn't have to be in the Philippines to clone the phone.

What leads me to believe that the number has been compromised is that he is getting calls from Canada. CEM is in the Philippines.

I'm going to keep Googling to see if I can find an answer. Yes....I am a nerd.

But anybody can use a computer program to fake a call display phone number. How is it that the call display number is not the person who actually called? And when the phone rings nobody can hear him and he's like an interloper on another conversation? And all the calls are daytime Philippines but middle of the night in Canada?
And the call in Chinese?
