I wonder who among here said they're bound for Alberta... Because that's where I'm crashing temporarily till I'm financially stable enough to move somewhere less colder. I heard Victoria (This is in Vancouver right?) doesn't get too cold in the winter...

usually britishcolumbia's weather is dry and wet .. doesnt really get much snow there .. in alberta weather goes down to -40

Blackbriar, try mo magorder ng gcms notes to see kung nareceive ng CEM yung sinend mo nung may, though it'll take 30days pero you'll have a better grasp sa ngyayari sa app nyo believe me. Pero it wouldn't hurt kung magsend ka ng email sa kanila. Iresend mo lang. You can let them know na you are sending it again just incase hindi nila nareceive yung hinulog mo sa dropbox.

Correction: you don't need to get an international driving permit to drive in Canada. Your Philippine license can be used here for 3 months. As for the LTO certification, that's what you can use to get a license in Canada without waiting for several months to take a driving test depending on your years of driving experience.

I specifically said Alberta for a reason, not all of the provinces. You can check it yourself too so you'd see why its needed in Alberta.

it is possible but .. they'd just reply to you that your app is still in the right track .. they'd only reply to you "with some answer" if your app already exceeded the 14 months application timeline ..
from SA to PPR thats 6 months right now .. im not sure how long it would take with yours .. you just need to wait .. it's not a good time to order gcms notes as well since the only update you'd have is its on queue in manila and havent been processed yet ..

if you got SA this july you should wait till about dec - january .. so condition your self now to believe that it would be on those months so you'd not panic over thinking about it .. but there are some cases that papers are finished within 3 months .. it's very rare and dont hope for it ..

if you check the link i have below is a spread sheet .. you can see a december applicant named comraxxx that had his whole application done in 6 months ..

oh yeah forgot to answer the question .. manila doesnt send any aor for applications that they receive ..

Hi marcjd, i have been wondering, when would be the best time to order GCMS notes? this gets me so confused. im excited at the prospect of getting PPR already (even though it'll be another 2-3 months) glad to see your timeline is very promising! sana ako din!

sa case ko .. i ordered gcms the day i cem received my wife's passport .. the reason is it take 30 days to get the gcms which is 4 weeks time .. and ppr to visa now is about 6-8 weeks statistically speaking .. so that when i get the gcms notes there will be something useful inside .. so projecting that by the time na makuha ko yung gcms notes via email .. andun na din details ng when decisions are made at if they are already preparing the required papers for visa .. =))

I have this "worst case scenario" running through my mind that my application got lost in the process. You see, we never really received the SA. I had my husband (my sponsor) call CIC because although his ecas showed "decision made" under SA, we never received a letter overtly saying our application has been transferred to CEM. The call center guy who answered said we were approved for SA though (Thank god!). We then requested them to resend the SA letter, but we never received the original nor the resent version.

I'm trying to calm myself down and convince myself that my papers are already here presumably since they approved SA, as per the phone call we made.

It sucks that CEM doesn't send out AORs that they received the file from Mississauga.

as for blackbriar .. d mo kelangan ng international license .. since d ka din makaka drive without car insurance .. which cost like gold if you have international license .. monthly yun ah nde yearly ..

the best way would be .. getting a certificate for LTO east ave qc "driver's abstract in english" if you are in manila area .. then bring it to dfa for red ribbon..

that way when you arrive here in alberta .. depending on the driving experience .. if all good
all you need to do is .. take the written exam for class 7 learners .. after passing that you can set an appointment to have a road test for gdl class5 .. that abstract saves you from waiting 1 year before you can take gdl class 5 .. it is clear ??

there's different rates ..
in my case i have 2012 chevy cruze (car)26k$ price to insure it full coverage they charge me 160$ per month for insurance ..
another is 2011 gmc acadia (suv) 43k$ price to insure it full coverage they charge me 280$ per month ..
when i started here in 2010 .. i bought a 2002 chevy cavalier (car) bought it for 1.5k$ only took 3rd party liability on insurance cost me 80$ per month ..

saka eto pala ..
iba ang insurance rate sa city at sa town ..
iba din ang rate ng different uses of car ..
kasi bago nila i adjust yung rate mo itatanong muna gano ka raming km itatakbo ng kotse mo every year .. tapos san mo gagamitin ang kotse mo ..

SA is delivered thru snail mail .. it takes weeks to arrive .. you can probably order gcms notes to find out when your papers or if your papers arrived at CEM .. but im not sure of that i didnt try it .. i only rely on the spread sheet made by scos .. it would enlighten you and make you prepared to wait .. try not to over think about it or it would just make you restless and uncomfy

pwede mo pa din magamit ung international licence .. pero yun nga since ang pr drivers license valid ng 3 months on arrival .. at if meron ka nung lto abstract with red ribbon on it .. d naman siguro aabot ng 3 months para mapasa mo yung written exam at road test =)) ...
