Hi, I entered canada on December 24 2019 and stayed for 3 weeks, collected my passport and came back to US. I haven't gone back to canada until now, planning to move in June to July 2021.
Will I meet the residency obligation to maintain PR status? And, Will there be any issue while applying for citizenship due to this gap? Thnks!!

I saw in the express entry website, it says that we should stay 2 years in 5 years to maintain PR status. And 3 years in 5 years to apply for citizenship.

Did you land on December 24 2019? If yes, then you're good to come back until dec 2022 to maintain your RO.

thanks! for replying. yes I landed on December 24 2019. And What's the eligibility criteria for citizenship? is it 3 years in first 5 years of when we become Permanent resident? or Any 3 years in 5 years(assume this is 2nd term) time period of Permanent Resident?

Any 3 years. So if you come back in dec 2022 (the latest) you will be eligible in Dec 2025 to apply for citizenship.

Just to further clarify for citizenship you need 3 years physical presence in Canada in the 5 years preceding the time you submit your application.

so before we submit the application for citizenship we have to be present in canada for 3 years. okay thanks!! And is it easy to obtain citizenship, given we don't have any criminal background or didn't comit any felony (what's the probability of becoming citizen)?
