I've read somewhere that if you (as a PR) accompany a spouse who is a Canadian citizen outside of Canada, then each day outside Canada is considered to be a day physically present in Canada.

Is that true?

Yes, in terms of meeting the Permanent Residency obligation. Those days abroad, will not count towards citizenship eligibility days in Canada.

And there aren't any conditions? like if the citizen has moved because of work obligations or something like that?

What do you mean "if the citizen has moved...?" If you are truly NOT living with your spouse, you are likely NOT having those days counted.

CIC website is down, but once you visit the link I posted from CIC you will note that there are no conditions.

There have been a couple of people that had issues, if they (the PR) was the one that had facilitated the move abroad and the Canadian citizen was moving to be with them. I suspect the numbers are extremely low and AFAIK, there's not been anyone that has lost their PR because of this.

Thank you.
Are there any special condition to make it count for citizenship also?
This rule does not apply to citizenship.
