Dear All,

Hope you are doing well.

Was wondering if you guys could give me your advice on my predicament.

I was able to get my Permanent Residency in Canada earlier this year, however as subjected, my PR card has been lost. The story is as follows:

- I landed in Canada on 10 March 2019 and stayed there for around 10 days and returned back home (Pakistan) for a week;
- My current employer in Pakistan has sent me on an assignment to a sister company in Dubai, UAE however I am on a UAE visit visa. I'm stating this fact since I have read about applying for a PRTD however I am so confused between meeting the RO criteria which I don't know what it is or H&C ground (I don't know if I need to do that or not). As I don't have residency Visa in UAE, I believe I cannot apply for PRTD from Candain Embassy in UAE so I guess it has to be from Pakistan;
- My PR card was delivered to the address(my aunt's house) I gave in Canada within the specified time;
- My current boss in UAE, his wife was travelling from Canada to Dubai and my aunt gave her my PR cards to deliver them to me by hand in Dubai;
- Surprisingly those have been misplaced by her or by my boss in UAE and I am left clueless without my PR Card;
- Can you please guide me on the process on how to sort this out? I am totally clueless and furious at my boss at the same time. I have also read about filing for a Police Report. Should that be done since the PR cards were lost in the UAE?
- What are the average processing timelines to obtain a PRTD, in essence I need to understand how long will the passport be gone for and the associated costs.

Thanks in Advance.

Stay Blessed!!

Others can comment as well but first given you only landed March 2019 then the RO is not relevant at all for 2/3 years. Second you should as soon as possible follow the process to report your card as lost but this maybe covered with the PRTD application or PR card replacment, not sure a police report is required. Third and others can correct me you can apply for a PRTD from wherever you are in the world given how do you think other people manage on vacation when they lose their card.

The only real unknown might be how long it takes to get a PRTD given there is no published processing time, could be weeks could be months .If you have a US visa you could fly back visa the US and cross the land border. You cannot unfortunately apply for a new PR card from outside Canada.

Assume maybe this the place where PRTDs get processed in UAE maybe but not sure

By way I never noticed this unreasonable request before, like who carries old expired passports with them on vacation if they need a PRTD

Good quality photocopies (minimum 300 dpi) from your current and previous passports for the last 5 years,

Hi Bs65,

Thank you for the prompt reply. Means a lot and explains a lot of things.

Regarding this point you said:

Can you please explain it further as I really don't understand what you mean by it.

Stay Blessed!
