Lost job in Canada, what are the options now

Hello friends

one of my friend lost job in Canada and she is there on a work permit. She has not applied for a PR yet as she completed 10 months of work on job. work permit is valid for another year and is backed by LMIA for the old job. She is trying to get a new job though that is proving difficult as employer needs to get a new LMIA.

What are the options available now for her to stay in Canada and find a job or does she need to leave Canada.
I am posting this question to explore different avenues we might have missed.

1. She can remain until her work permit expires, but she can't work until she gets a new LMIA and work permit. Basically her only option.

what about studying there. Although current Work permit does not allow it, can it be changed from within Canada if she gets admission.

Yes - but you're too late for the September term. Earliest you'd be able to obtain a study permit is for the January term.
