Use the school tool and according to the school board website, since to date it is already after April 15, some schools might not be available. Anyways go to the school board website to learn more.

So your choice of school is not always dependent on where you live due to lottery or catchment has no availabiltiy.
You have to register your child first with the school district at the local school or elsewhere if instructed by your local school. You can’t know whether your local school is full or what your options are without registering with the local school.

That said the choice of school is not dependent on where you live but depend on the outcome after registering with the local school. But better to do so before April 15.

The school that your child can attend will primarily be the one in your local catchment area. You will need to choose what school board you want to register with ( English, French, Catholic English or French) and register at the school in your local catchment area. There are some situations where there may be an opportunity to enter a more specialized school. This is often limited to larger cities and high school but when registering at the school in your local catchment area you will be given information about other programs that may be available.

Noted and thanks for the information. We are moving to Edmonton. What are specialized schools? like boarding schools?
