Hi Guys!

I am new to this forum and looking forward to apply Canada PR. I am confused whether to choose a consultant like Y-axis or not, thinking if i take up things on my own will there be delay in process as cap is just 300 only. Are consultants really make different in this or can we handle everything on our own?

I am having 7 yrs experience in software testing domain with M.Sc CS degree, I have IELTS score already with L-8,R-6.5,W-7,S-7.

What are the steps involved and I got to know that ECA is the first step invovled and i need to know what should be done here. Any help much appreciated

If you are planning to apply through the Federal Skilled Worker program, then you'll need a job offer in Canada to qualify to apply.

Job offer is not a must as long as his occupation is one of the eligible occupations.

He should first compare his duties with one of these occupations, e.g. NOC 2174.

Dear fkiddy12,

You do not necessarily need a consultant, there are so many people on this forum who have applied without consultant and have been successful. So can you. All help is available here. Infact you can pursue your case better. Consultants have to deal with more than one applications so there are chances that your application gets neglected and at the end if anything goes wrong ... all they can say is sorry.

If you intend to apply for FSW 2013 without a job offer (i.e. NOC Category) from Canada and you do not have your ECA then I'm afraid you are late for this year. We have strong reasons to believe that NOCs related to computer engineering professions have already been filled. Still if you want to try your luck. You may do so.
If you can manage to secure a job offer from an employer in Canada then you can apply under the FSW 2013 "Arranged Employment Category" which has no cap limitation.

For ECA purposes CIC has designated 3 organizations this year:
1. Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies

http://learn.utoronto.ca/international-professionals/comparative-education-service-ces

2. International Credential Assessment Service of Canada

http://www.icascanada.ca/fsw/home.aspx

3. World Education Services

http://www.wes.org/ca/fswp/

You can select any one for assessment of your credentials.

Except that NOC 2174 has certainly reached its cap by now.

Thank you guys for the reply! I am thinking i will get ECA done (5 days track) and already have IELTS score ready. But the NOC occupation site is still reflecting only 51 as the no still processed. As ECA is valid for 5 yrs and IELTS for 2 yrs atleast I can be ready for next year may.

What is that we need for ECA, documents?

Forget ece.org. Just choose one of the 3 organizations approved by CIC.

Well thats because ECE is NOT designated/recognized by CIC for Education Credential Assessment. If you got this from your consultant then he has seriously misguided you and you should beware of him. He might mess you up in future and you may lose your money. You have been warned.
