I would suggest you stay in the old west end, schooling really matters and Hillcrest School is the best.

Generally it is cheaper to buy in New Brunswick vs renting. However as you are landing for the first time, I would advice you not to buy immediately, rather see if you are able to make it your permanent home first, because it is really difficult to sell when you need to.
