I am getting married next month and will need a Marriage Certificate as part of my documents to sponsor my spouse. On the website you can apply for either a Short Form certificate or a Long Form certificate. Which one does CIC need/prefer? I also heard of people on this forum having issues with the certificates they sent in, Ottawa asked for them again. Just don't want to encounter problems. Thanks! :)

You need to apply for the Long form. That is the one that CIC requires as it contains more information.

Apply for both .I sen the long form and it was fine but others have sent the long form and they requested the short form .I think the only reason was because who ever went over the documents only saw Marriage Licence which it at the top of the certificate. This topic has been discussed many times so i would definitely recommend you get both and send both to avoid any delays . Just my opinion. If i had read the forum before ordering mine i would have sent both just in case. Better to be prepared than not :D
