LOL I know. What you have to do is when you go to the final step in the PP issuance procedure where the Assistant Director stamps your form etc you have to tell him to not cancel the passport as it has a valid visa in it. Then he will stamp another thing on it which says something like "new passport no. ---------- issued in lieu of this old passport"

Got it.
I will have to meet the assistant director I believe and explain to him "NOT TO PUT THE CANCELLED STAMP".
I Will have to see thru the procedure all the way to the end.

Salam and Thanks to all here.

Yesterday I received my Passport with VISA (single entry, valid till 28/7/2016). I have plans to visit Toronto in May 2016 INSHAALLAH.

Sorry guys I don's know how to update timeline details but CIC received my documents in first week of Nov 2014 and yesterday I got my passport with VISA.

Currently I am not sure should I make Munich, Germany OR Canada my permanent home, but I pray to ALLAH SWT to decide best for me and don't put matters in my hand. Please remember me in your prayers.

First of all many many congratulations to you for receiving of PR visa.

Could you please share your timeline of submitting application , receiving PER and receiving MR etc.

Lots of conflicting opinion in that thread. Best would be email the CIC and ask them for their advice. Quote the guidelines given in the thread you mentioned in your email so that CIC staff don't get it wrong.

It does not invalidate the visa. As i had visa which was valid for another 1.5 years in my old passport (not of canada though) and i had to renew my passport and i traveled without any hassle by carrying both passports pinned together. And Doc is right. If u have a valid visa they will not put cancelled stamp in it rather just a stamp mentioning a new passport is being issued in lieu of this one

Anyone with the back dated SLU received MR as yet? How much time difference between SLU to MR? Any one?

I have received MR with back dated SLU. Actually I received MR first and then after a few days my 2nd line was updated. Like others, the processing date as per my SLU is before my PER date.

hello to everyone

i am a PNP and my case is in LVO i had Inprocess from june 2015 but didnt receive MR i raised CSE they replied 20 days back that routine background check being conducted on my file and they are awaiting for results...

my question is has any one idea how much time in FSW VO took for Background check and etc
